Ecuador missed their chances, Ivory Coast took advantage of one - it was enough for the "elephants" to win three points in Philadelphia in the first round of Group E at the World Cup.
For almost 50 minutes, the Ecuadorians were the ones who threatened, created chances and hit the crossbar three times - Jebo, Mindo and Valencia. It also seemed that they were the team that dictated the pace, that found a way to make a difference on the pitch...
And then at the beginning of the second half, the Ivory Coast players woke up.
And they then shook the goal frame (Wai), and the decisive moment came in the 90th minute when Manchester United player Amad Diallo shone.
Singo made a great pass down the right side, assisting Diallo, who knew how to use that gift.
The African team is now tied with Germany for first place, with the "elf" having a much better goal difference, having easily defeated Curacao 7:1 in the opening match.
Ivory Coast took a serious step towards the knockout stage in the first 90 minutes, and in the second round - on June 20 - they will meet Germany.
