Scaloni: This result gives us peace for what's to come, I have no words to describe the Messiah

Argentina national football team coach Lionel Scaloni said that today's World Cup match against Algeria was very demanding and that the victory in that match brought calm to his team ahead of the upcoming matches.

"The first game is always difficult, it affects you in some way. The failure from our first game in Qatar was still on our minds, but this result now gives us peace of mind for what comes next," Scaloni said, as reported by the International Football Federation (FIFA) website.

The Argentine national team defeated the Algerian national team 3-0 today in Kansas City, in the first round match of Group J at the World Cup.

"We knew we were going to struggle, they are a team that plays well. They did a great job, it was a very difficult game despite the final result," Scaloni said.

All three goals for the reigning world champions in today's match were scored by Lionel Messi, who thus equaled Miroslav Klose's record for the total number of goals scored in World Cups.

Messi today joined Cristiano Ronaldo as the only player to score goals in five different World Cups, and he also became the first footballer to appear in six World Cups.

"I have no words to describe Messi. For twenty years he has accustomed us to these things and inspires everyone who watches him play," Scaloni said.

The Argentine national team will play against Austria in the second round of Group J on June 22nd in Arlington, while they will also play their last match in the group stage in that Texas city, on June 28th against Jordan.

"We're going game by game. The team is happy, we've given minutes to many players. We hope we can win the next game so everyone can be in the third game of the group stage," Scaloni stated.
