De la Fuente: France faced the best team in the world

Spain national football team coach Luis de la Fuente, after their victory over France in the World Cup semi-finals, called his team "the best team in the world" and added that his players deserve all the good things they receive.

The Spanish national team advanced to the World Cup finals for the second time in its history last night, after defeating France 2-0 in the semi-finals in Arlington.

"We started almost four years ago with a certain idea, we stayed true to it and it brought us here. Today we faced one of the best national teams in the world, but they had the best team in the world against them. That's the difference. These players deserve everything, day after day they have shown their dedication, solidarity, generosity and talent. They make difficult things look easy," said De la Fuente, as reported by the International Football Federation (FIFA) website.

The Spanish national team also reached the World Cup final in 2010, when they won their only world championship title with a victory over the Netherlands (1:0).

Then, as now, Spain entered the World Cup as the reigning European champions.

The Spanish players will play in the final, in East Rutherford, against the winner of the duel between the Argentina and England national teams. That match is scheduled for tonight at 21 p.m.
