A two-day boycott of shops due to high prices begins in Bosnia and Herzegovina today, and citizens are urged to refrain from making any purchases.

After a one-day boycott of stores that took place last Friday, January 31st, the action is being held for two days this time, today and tomorrow, with the message - "Don't buy!".

The Facebook group "Boycott BiH", which is behind the action, announced that the boycott will continue until the demands are met and prices are reduced.

The initiators of the campaign called on citizens to rationalize their spending on other days, buy only essential groceries, and not buy anything on Friday and Saturday.

The success of the first boycott is difficult to assess, although photos from the field showed fairly empty stores, data from tax administrations in Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina show that citizens did not respond to the action in large numbers. Moreover, official statistics show that turnover in stores on January 31 was the same or even higher than on previous days, N1 reports.

"For me, the first boycott, which took place last Friday, was successful, although according to data from the FBiH Tax Administration, it turns out that it was not. However, we witnessed that the stores were half empty," said Ferida Kulović, president of the Consumer Association "Potrošač" from Kakanj, adding that she absolutely supports the boycott and that she thinks that a large number of the population will respond to it.

The boycott of shops due to high prices has spread throughout the region, and it all started in Croatia, where a new general boycott of all products and services also began today.

This is the third Friday of the store boycott in Croatia, and a seven-day boycott of one retail chain begins on Saturday.
