A very rare purple-pink diamond from Russia was sold at an auction in Switzerland for $26,6 million.
This 14,8-carat diamond, called the Spirit of the Rose, is the largest of its kind ever to be auctioned, with 99 percent of pink diamonds weighing less than 10 carats.
Its size along with its color and impeccable internal structure raised its price at the Sotheby's auction in Geneva.
The name of the auctioneer who bought it has not been disclosed to the public.

It is one of three diamonds in the collection of the Russian mining company Alrosa - all three are named after famous Russian ballets.
The Spirit of the Rose is made from an uncut diamond found in Russia in 2017.
The uncut diamond was named Nijinsky in honor of the Russian-Polish ballet dancer and choreographer.
Currently, the record price of a pink diamond is held by CTF Roze zvezda. This 59-carat diamond was auctioned for $71 million in Hong Kong in April 2017.

A large diamond named Oppenheimer Blue reached a price of 50,6 million US dollars.
This 14,62-carat diamond was sold after just 20 minutes at an auction organized by Christie's auction house in Geneva.
The buyer's name has not been released.
November 2015:
The Blue Moon, a 12,03-carat diamond, caught the eye of Hong Kong tycoon Joseph Lau, who paid a record $48,4 million for the cushion-shaped stone.
He bought it for his seven-year-old daughter and named it Blue Moon for Josephine.
May 2015:
An unnamed buyer made history when he bought the Sunrise Ruby, a 25,59-carat gemstone for $30 million.
At that price, it became the most expensive non-diamond gemstone sold.
November 2013:
"The world's largest clear orange diamond," according to Christie's, has fetched more per carat than any other diamond at auction.
It was sold for 35 million dollars, or 2,4 million per carat.
November 2010:
The Rosy Graf is a 24,78 carat stone of intense pink color, described as "one of the largest diamonds ever discovered".
It was sold at auction for $46,2 million.
At that moment, it was the most expensive diamond sold at an auction, and it went into the hands of British merchant Lawrence Graf.
