Hundreds of seal pups have died during the devastating storm Arwen at a nature reserve in south-east Scotland.
The National Institute for Conservation - which manages the St Abs Reserve - says they have never had such a disaster before.
Scottish officials say 224 dead cubs have been found in the water in the Petico Wick Bay area and there are more on the shore.
Further investigations will determine what the situation is with other seal colonies in the area, but they say it is "not working well".
The past decades have managed to significantly increase the population of these animals.

Until 2007, there were no seals there at all, which gradually changed, so that last year broke the record with 1.800 new cubs.
However, the National Institute says that the devastating storm Arwen over the weekend caused great damage to the animal world in this area of Scotland.
"Unfortunately, it appears we lost most of the seal pups in this storm," they wrote on Facebook.
"There is always that risk because gray seals spawn at this time of the year, when storms are most common.
"But for a storm this powerful to hit the peak of the spawning season is really exceptional."
