Police in Florida arrested a bride and a caterer on suspicion of adding cannabis to food that was later served at her wedding.

Some of the wedding guests called the police after the celebration, claiming that they felt like they had been drugged.

Two months later, Danja Svoboda and Joycelyn Bryan were charged with bribery, negligence and delivery of marijuana.

The police arrested them after testing the food and drinks from the wedding.

The wedding ceremony was held on February 19 in the city of Longwood in the American state of Florida.

Officers wrote in the report that several of the 50 guests in attendance said they "felt strange after eating meatballs, Caesar salad, tortellini and bread with olive oil and herb sauce."

Guests complained of stomach ache, and some even vomited.

Several dignitaries had to be hospitalized.

One guest told officers he "felt tingling, his heart started beating faster, and he had crazy thoughts."

Another guest said that she thought that her son-in-law had died, and that the family was hiding the news.

She was taken to the hospital where she "began to make noise, act disorderly and had to be sedated," according to the police report.

The police officers asked Svoboda on the spot if she allowed drugs to be poured into the food, which she admitted.

Miranda Cady, one of the guests, testified that a waitress put a "green substance" in a dish that also contained olive oil.

"It should be noted that Miranda Cady was referring to what is commonly referred to as a marijuana shake, the pieces that fall off from a larger amount of marijuana," the report said.

Caddy also claimed that while they were dancing on the dance floor, the bride admitted to her that cannabis had been added to the olive oil.

Joycelyn Bryan, head of the catering service, and her employees left the wedding venue before the police arrived, so they were not immediately questioned.

Police confiscated the glasses, bottles and food and conducted a subsequent drug test.

Among the foods tested were lasagna, puddings and strawberry chocolate candy.

Officials said traces of THC, a psychoactive substance found in marijuana, were found in the bread and lasagna.

Three guests tested positive for THC.

Medical cannabis is legal in Florida, but not for recreational use, as in some other US states.
