A 109-year-old woman who was born during the reign of King George V still eats a bacon sandwich for breakfast every day.

Winifred Parker, who lives in a nursing home near Oxford, Great Britain, was born 13 years before Queen Elizabeth II, when Woodrow Wilson was the American president.

As a young woman, Winifred was also a singer in numerous Birmingham clubs.

Five generations of her family threw her a birthday party.

Sally Connolly, nursing home coordinator, says Parker has two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

The employees of the home invited a saxophonist to play her favorite song, I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles (I'm forever blowing bubbles).

The room was decorated with balloons.

"She listens to her own schedule, takes her medication regularly and is in good shape. He really loves life. She's amazing," says Connolly.

"He sleeps until half past ten and eats a bacon sandwich and drinks tea for breakfast every morning."

Connolly, who has known the old woman for 30 years, says she worked at the now-closed chain store and was a clerk for a while, but "her singing was brilliant".
