Laura Ann Carlton, a 66-year-old store owner in America, was killed after an argument over an LGBT flag displayed in front of her store, police said.
She was found with a fatal gunshot wound in her Mag Pi store in Cedar Glen, California.
Police found the suspect nearby after the shooting and killed him because he was allegedly armed, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said.
Hollywood director Paul Feig published a joint photo with the injured Laura Ann Carlton, describing her as a "wonderful friend".

Before the gunman shot Carlton, he made abusive remarks to her about the rainbow flag she hung in the store.
Officers then located the suspect, who they say was armed, and then shot him dead.
Director Feig, known for the films "Bridesmaids" and the television series Freaks and Geeks, said his friend was killed after the attacker tore up the flag.
In a post on Instagram, he wrote that he was "very sad" for Lora's family and the LGBT community "to which Lora was a true ally."
"This intolerance must end.
"Anyone who uses hateful language against the LGBT+ community must understand that their words matter, that their words can inspire violence against innocent people," the director wrote.
A representative of the local LGBT group Lake Arrowhead said Lora was a great friend and will be missed.
"She didn't identify as a member of the LGBT+ community, but she was very helpful to all of us," Erohed wrote.
