The social network X (formerly known as Twitter), which is owned by Elon Musk, will not be free for new users in New Zealand and the Philippines - during the new trial period, annual access to key functions will cost one dollar (about 110 dinars).
This includes the ability to tweet, retweet, post and reply to other posts.
Those who unsubscribe will only be able to read posts, watch videos and follow other accounts.
Officials of the Iks platform say that the introduction of this newspaper aims to "reduce the number of unwanted messages, manipulation and bot activity".
- Why is the rebranding of Twitter to X "shocking" to users?
- "It's painful to own Twitter," Elon Musk told the BBC
- With the arrival of Ilona Maska, Twitter lost half of its revenue from advertising
New accounts will also have to verify a phone number, although Musk said it will still be free to create "read-only" accounts.
In September, he announced that all users of the Iks platform may have to pay for access.
Since Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion last year, it has seen a steady decline in revenue.
While there is a clear financial interest in the company starting to charge a subscription fee, the controversial billionaire says people should pay for the service because of the bots.
He previously stated that building a single bot costs "a fraction of a penny".
But if someone has to pay a subscription fee of several dollars, it will drastically increase the cost of using bots.
Subscribers have enhanced services, called X Premium, such as the ability to write longer posts and have greater visibility on the platform.
X Premium currently costs eight dollars a month in America.
The price varies depending on the country in which the subscriber is located, while other users can still use Iks for free.
One of the risks of introducing a subscription for the use of the platform is the loss of users.
That could reduce earnings from advertising, which currently make up the vast majority of the company's revenue.
Authorities in the European Union have been investigating the company in recent weeks for possible dissemination of terrorist and violent content, as well as hate speech after the Hapas attack on Israel.
The X platform was also fined for failing to cooperate with a child abuse investigation by the Internet Safety Organization in Australia.
