Donald Trump, the candidate for the presidency of the United States, said that he has no problem if he is sent to prison after the court found him guilty in the first of several criminal proceedings, but he added that his wife, Melania, endured the whole process "very hard".
Last week, jurors found Trump guilty of falsifying business records to cover up secret payments to former porn star Stormi Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign.
He is the first American president in history to be criminally convicted.
He called the trial several times "fixed and politically motivated".

In an interview with Fox News over the weekend, Trump said that success in the upcoming US elections in November will be his "revenge".
The sentencing is scheduled for July 11, and he announced that he will appeal the conviction.
Trump said his legal battle in New York was especially difficult for his wife.
At the trial, various spicy details were heard about the alleged affair between Trump and Daniels, among other things, that he invited her to a hotel suite and welcomed her in silk pajamas.
Daniels also told the court that he had no protection when they allegedly had sex.
According to her testimony, Trump then told her that he and his wife Melania sleep in different beds.
Trump said in the interview that Melania is fine "but I think all of this has been very difficult for her".
"In many ways, all of this is harder for them [his family] than it is for me," he added.

Under New York law, each of the 34 felony charges Trump has been convicted of could carry up to four years in prison, although that is not considered a likely outcome.
In an interview with Fox, Trump said there was a possibility he could be sentenced to prison, adding that he was "okay with that" but that he was "not sure the public would support it."
"I think the public had a hard time accepting it. You know, at a certain point there's a tipping point," he said.

In another interview published over the weekend, former adult film actress Stormi Daniels said she was "shocked" at how quickly the jury reached its verdict.
In her first public address since the verdict, Daniels told the British newspaper Mirror that she believed Trump "should be sentenced to prison and some community service that would not be lenient."
"Or to serve as a punching bag in women's safe houses," she added.
Even after the conviction, Daniels said the case was "not over" for her.
“For me, this will never be over. Trump may be guilty, but I still have to live with it," she said.
Trump still faces dozens of other charges in three other criminal cases, including one for attempting to set voting results in the state of Georgia in the 2020 election, when he was defeated by Joseph Biden.
The trial in Florida, where Trump is accused of being misused confidential state documents, which he kept in his villa in that country after his presidential term.
