One man was killed and several were wounded in a Ukrainian drone attack on a ferry in a port in southern Russia, the regional governor said.

Venjamin Kondrateyev, the mayor of the Krasnodar region, said that the ferry caught fire in the Port of Kavkaz, but that there was no danger of it spreading.

The port is only a few kilometers from the Crimean Bridge, which carries road and rail traffic from Russia to the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.

"Unfortunately, there are injured and dead among the crew and staff in the port," Kondrateyev said.

He added that emergency services are on the scene.

Ukraine attacked this area at the end of May, hitting an oil terminal near the port of Kavkaz.

The area around the Russian-built bridge across the Crimean Strait has been repeatedly attacked by Ukrainian forces since the Russian invasion in 2022.

In some attacks, Ukrainian forces managed to sink some ships and severely damage others.

Earlier this month, the head of the Ukrainian Navy said that Russia's Black Sea Fleet had been forced to move almost all of its warships from occupied Crimea to other ports.

In other developments overnight, Ukrainian air defenses shot down seven Shahed drones and a cruise missile launched by Russia.

A Russian drone crashed into a critical infrastructure facility in the Suma region.

Russian forces shot down 25 Ukrainian drones in the west of the country and over Crimea, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced.
