HBO invited young actors to audition for the new Harry Potter series.
The competition was opened at the beginning of September, confirmed the TV network for Variety.
To be eligible for the roles of Harry, Ron or Hermione, children will need to be aged between nine and 11 in April 2025 and be residents of the UK or Ireland.
The audition is dedicated to inclusion and diversity, according to the invitation.
- Close to two million dollars for the first showing of Harry Potter
- Will this game also make the world crazy?
- What is life like when your name is Harry Potter
"Qualified performers are required for each role, regardless of ethnicity, gender, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity or anything permitted by law, unless otherwise noted," it added.
Everyone who wants to apply should send two of their own videos of where they are.
It is necessary that one recording be a "short poem or story" (nothing from Harry Potter) and the other where he will tell something about himself, say his date of birth, height and where he lives.
Children are also asked to use their own accents.
When the series will be finished has not been announced, but the invitation states that filming should take place in Great Britain during 2025 and 2026.
Franceska Gardiner and Mark Majlod, who worked on the series Succession, will be engaged as screenwriter and director.
It is expected that the series should have seven episodes and that each of them will show one of JK Rowling's Harry Potter books.
In August 2000, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were cast to play Harry, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley in the original films.
Grint, who was 12 years old, applied for the role after seeing an audition invitation Newsround-a.
Radcliffe previously said that while he's "excited" to watch the new adaptation, he doesn't believe he'll be making a cameo appearance.
"I think they are wise to want a break.
"I don't know if it would work if we did something there. I'm very happy to watch everything with everyone else," he told E! News.
