US police have publicly praised rock star Jon Bon Jovi for convincing a woman to step off the edge of a bridge in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday night.
Police have released footage of 62-year-old Jon Bon Jovi and his associates standing on a pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River, talking to a woman.
Bon Jovi and several other people spoke with the woman and helped her back onto the bridge, police said.

Bon Jovi is believed to have been in Nashville to shoot a music video on the bridge.
In a video released by police, a woman in blue can be seen holding on to the railing of the bridge, while Bon Jovi's team sets up filming equipment at the other end.
The singer then approached the woman, waved at her and leaned against the fence next to her.
Some time later, he approached the woman and, with the help of his colleagues, brought her back to the pedestrian part of the bridge.
Once she was safe, Bon Jovi hugged her, and a few minutes later, he walked off the bridge with her.
"Thank you to Jon Bon Jovi and his associates for helping a woman on a pedestrian bridge Tuesday night," Nashville police said.
