Scottish basketball club Caledonia Gladiators signed a player and soon fired him after it was learned that the athlete was linked to a murder in America.
The club said they were unaware that Malik Dunbar, who joined them in December, was a suspect in the murder of Arthur Braxton in Augusta, a city in the US state of Georgia.
The contracts that this 28-year-old basketball player and his teammate Jared Wilson-Frame had with the club have been terminated.
However, Caledonia Gladiators said that the reason for the termination of cooperation is not related to the investigation into the murder committed on October 4, 2024.

Arthur Braxton was a 32-year-old man who was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds outside the El Prezidente Mexican restaurant.
Local media in Augusta reported that Dunbar was a suspect.

The termination of the contract "is effective immediately" and the move was made due to "a serious breach of club discipline", the club said.
According to information obtained by the BBC, this is not related to any violence.
The Scottish club from East Kilbride, south of Glasgow, competes in the top tier of British basketball.
"Following the disciplinary breach, we have become aware of serious allegations against Malik Dunbar in America in relation to another case, which were made prior to his arrival at the club.
"We work with reputable sports agencies that offer players to clubs around the world and we found no allegations during the pre-employment checks," the statement said.
They also pointed out that they would launch an internal investigation into the way players are brought into the club.

The sports agency Interperformanses, which represents Dunbar, says they were unaware of his connection to the shooting, which they learned about from the media.
Dunbar was also arrested in August for possession of a firearm or knife, as well as possession of marijuana with intent to sell, US media reported.
The basketball winger had a successful career at Auburn University in America.
He helped the team reach the top four college teams in the country in 2019, later playing in Germany and Egypt, as well as in the Development League (G League), where affiliates of NBA franchises compete.
