In Novi Sad, a memorial gathering was held in front of the City Hall on Sunday to commemorate the dog Dona, who was run over during a protest two days earlier.
"The gathering is intended as a warning because so far we have had people and animals trampled, such behavior is simply unacceptable," the organizer of the gathering says in the invitation. portal 021 reports.
Donna was a city dog, used to people, who walked freely through the streets of Novi Sad, which was the case on Friday, when she walked with students in a protest column.
The Novi Sad Animal Protection Association - SPANS announced on social media that the dog was hit by one of the four ambulances that appeared, continuing on without stopping.
"People in the convoy took Donna to the nearest veterinary clinic, but, as they wrote, it was too late for her," the association said. in a post on Facebook, with what is probably the last photo of a dog in the arms of a student at a protest.
The Clinical Center of Vojvodina announced that the vehicle was theirs and that the police and prosecutor's office were taking all measures regarding the dog running over it.

Many social media users paid tribute to Donna, and among the posts was an illustration by Sarajevo architect and artist Midhat Kapetanović, showing a smiling dog floating on a cloud and watching.
"If a cloud follows you tomorrow, don't be afraid." he wrote in the image description.
It has been announced that the memorial gathering for Dona in Novi Sad will, symbolically, last up to 12 hours and eight minutes.
