US Senator Cory Booker has broken the record for the longest speech delivered in the Senate of all time.
The marathon speech by the Democratic senator from New Jersey was a symbolic protest against President Donald Trump.
The speech lasted 25 hours and four minutes.
Booker said this is a "serious and urgent" moment in American history.
Although the day-long speech was not designed to hinder the passage of legislation, it nevertheless slowed down the work of the Republican-controlled Senate.
According to the rules, if someone wants to speak for that long, they must stay at the podium the entire time, without first giving up a toilet break.
The previous record was held by Republican Senator Strom Thurmond, who spoke for 24 hours and 18 minutes against the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

Booker said he would speak for as long as he was physically able.
The address began on Monday evening at around 19 p.m. local time and ended on Tuesday at 20:06 p.m.
The 55-year-old, who is the fourth-ranking Democrat in the Senate, read letters from constituents during his address, who said they had been harmed by President Trump's policies.
In addition to reading letters from voters, the former presidential candidate spent an hour talking about sports, reciting poetry, and answering questions from colleagues.
Booker, who is African American, spoke about his roots, saying he is a descendant of both slaves and slave owners.
"I'm here because no matter how powerful I am, the people are more powerful," he said, referring to former Senator Thurmond's address that set the current record 68 years ago.
Having surpassed the record, Booker said he would now "dedicate himself to some of the biological urgencies that I feel."
He managed to take a much-needed break during his speech by answering questions from his colleagues.
The Democratic Party, currently in the minority in both houses of Congress - the Senate and the House of Representatives, welcomed Booker's symbolic act of protest.
The previous time before Booker, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, a Republican, ran for 2013 p.m. in 21.
But then it was the so-called 'filibuster', that is, an attempt to delay the adoption of the law during the administration of former President Barack Obama, from the ranks of the Democratic Party.
Cruz told CBS, the BBC's American partner, that filibuster a difficult physical feat.
In his own protest, he wore comfortable shoes and tried to drink as little water as possible.
He described this concept as: "Nothing enters (the body), nothing leaves it."
