A life-size Labubu doll sold this week for a record 1,08 million yuan (just over 130.000 euros), according to a Chinese auction house.
The 131-centimeter doll was sold at the International Jongle Auction in Beijing.
The auctioneer said that it is now the most expensive toy of its kind in the world.
Labubu dolls are unusual monster characters created a decade ago by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung, and their popularity has grown in recent years after they were promoted by numerous celebrities.
Labubu dolls, sold by Chinese toy company Pop Mart, usually cost around 50 yuan (six euros).
This week's auction was entirely dedicated to Labubu.
48 items were put up for sale, and about 200 people attended.
The auction house said it raised a total of 3,37 million yuan (about 400.000 euros).
The figurines caused a worldwide craze after Lisa from K-pop (Korean pop) group Blackpink was often mentioned in posts on social media.
Plush toys became a viral trend on TikTok after other celebrities, such as singers, mentioned them. Rihanna i Two Lips.
Former captain of the England national football team David Beckham He also posted a photo of a Labubu figurine attached to his bag on Instagram.
Earlier this year, Pop Mart pulled the dolls from all stores in the UK after reports that customers were fighting over them, even getting into physical fights.

Chinese manufacturer Pop Mart often sells collectible toys in mysterious "blind boxes."
These items are popular with customers who only find out what the figurine they ordered looks like when they open the package.
The popularity of Labubu toys contributed to the success of Pop Mart.
The company's revenue in 2024 was 13 million yuan, more than double the previous year.
Last year, it opened new stores in five countries, including Italy and Spain.
