French actor Gerard Depardieu will face trial again on rape and sexual assault charges dating back to 2018.

The lawsuit was filed by actress Charlotte Arnoult.

"I feel relieved that the case is finally going to court, seven years after the lawsuit was filed," she said.

Depardieu denied the allegations, claiming that their relationship was "consensual," meaning that she consented to it.

This is not the first time the famous actor has faced accusations of sexual misconduct.

It's in May found guilty of sexual assault on two members of the film crew during filming four years ago.

Although he was listed on the sex offenders' registry, he did not receive a prison sentence.

He previously denied those allegations as well.

"Seven years later, seven years of horror and hell...

"I don't think I can grasp how big this is yet. I feel relieved," actress Charlotte Arnoult wrote in a social media post.

Karin Dirje Dijebol, her legal representative, confirmed that Depardieu will be tried for alleged rape and sexual assault, with finger penetration, which allegedly occurred twice at his home in Paris in August 2018.

"My client and I feel relieved and have confidence in the justice system," she said.

The trial start date has not yet been set.

In a letter published in the Figaro newspaper in 2023, Depardieu denied the allegations.

"I have never, ever abused any woman. There was never any coercion, violence, or resistance between us," the actor said.

The case was initially dismissed due to lack of evidence, but after Arnoul filed a civil lawsuit, a judicial investigation was opened in the summer of 2020.
