Few could have predicted that the former Canadian prime minister and the American singer, who has traveled the world and reached the edge of space, would be in a relationship.

They first appeared together in Paris on October 25th and 26th.
They held hands as they left the Crazy Horse cabaret, where Perry was celebrating her 41st birthday.
It may seem unexpected, but they have more in common than one might assume.
Their romance is not a unique case in Canadian political history.
While many may not have expected Trudeau and Perry to be together, the relationship could help their individual public images.
The relationship “changes their identities in a very interesting and unexpected way,” says Jose Rodriguez, a professor of communication studies at California State University, Long Beach.
The partnership with the statesman helps the singer reach new audiences, get closer to politically engaged people and global organizations outside the music industry.

At its core is a simple human connection, critics note.
They have both recently been single.

Rumors of their romance began in late July, when they were seen having dinner at the restaurant "The violin", a luxury restaurant in downtown Montreal.
Two days later, Trudeau appeared at one of Katy Perry's concerts, singing along to her hits like "Firework"And"Teenage dream".
In mid-October, photos emerged showing Trudeau and Perry kissing on her yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara, California.
The politician and the singer have not spoken publicly about their relationship.
Their representatives did not respond to the BBC's request for comment.
But before the Paris photos emerged, Katy Perry hinted at their relationship in September during a tour in London.
Shortly after photos emerged of her and Trudeau hugging and touching each other tenderly, the singer was proposed to by a fan in the audience.
"You should have asked me about 48 hours ago," the singer replied.
Justin Trudeau was elected Prime Minister of Canada in 2015.
He won by a landslide, promising "shining roads" in the country, and was admired abroad for his youthful charm, but his image was quickly tarnished by various scandals.
He was criticized for a series of luxury vacations, including a trip to the Aga Khan's private island in the Bahamas, which was found to have violated federal conflict of interest laws.
He had to publicly apologize for photos published in 2019, in which his face was blackened.
By the end of his term, Canadians were also frustrated with the way he was running the country, which caused his popularity to decline.
In January 2025, Trudeau resigned.
Katy Perry has faced similar controversies after years of popularity.
She was at the height of her fame in the 2010s, constantly releasing hit after hit, and her bold and colorful style helped define pop culture.

Perry soon ended her long-term relationship with actor Orlando Bloom, whom she had been with since her divorce from comedian Russell Brand.
She has a daughter with Blum.

The Trudeau connection "takes attention away from the failed album and the tour that felt a little wrong, and gets us talking about something else."
'Paradise Connection'
Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau have a lot in common.
They are ideologically aligned, as they oppose traditional and conservative ideas in their respective fields, notes Los Angeles-based music writer Garrick Kennedy.
In 2016, Perry performed at several campaign rallies for US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, and publicly supported another Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, in the 2024 elections.
She is a vocal supporter of the LGBT+ community as well as various feminist charities and causes.
Justin Trudeau also advocated for the same issues (a central part of his policy was equalizing the number of women and men in government).
They are also dedicated to children.
Perry has a four-year-old daughter, Daisy, who she often posts on her Instagram account, and Trudeau also shares photos of the children.
He has three children and he took each one on a separate vacation.
Unlike his predecessors who moved into consulting or joined law firms after politics, Justin Trudeau is doing something different again, and his relationship with an American singer is one of those things.
But that's in keeping with the prime minister's brand, which has always been quirky, says Michael Mulvey, a marketing professor at the University of Ottawa.
As the son of former Prime Minister, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, he grew up as a public figure.
One of his earliest photographs is of him being held as a baby by former American First Lady Pat Nixon.
When he divorced, he was often compared to his father, who also divorced Trudeau's mother, Margaret, while he was still in office.
His father also had famous adventures.
He was with American singer and actress Barbra Streisand and Canadian actress Kim Cattrall, who became famous for her role as Samantha in the series "Sex and the City".
“There is no doubt that history repeats itself,” says Jonathan Malloy, a political science professor at Carleton University in Ottawa.
