After several extremely cold days with temperatures below zero, the sun finally rose over Ohrid, North Macedonia's most popular tourist destination, illuminating the city with light.
Ohrid is a historic city in southwestern North Macedonia, famous for its lake, on the list UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Due to its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, Ohrid has various nicknames, such as "The Pearl of North Macedonia" or "European Galapagos".
It is also called the "Balkan Jerusalem" because of its numerous ancient churches and monasteries.
It is one of the oldest human settlements in Europe and an important center of early Slavic culture.
