"Actress. Screenwriter. Director. And dog rights activist."
This is how Nikola Pelc Beckham introduces herself in her Instagram bio..
Brooklyn Beckham's 31-year-old wife found herself at the center of a media storm after explosive announcements her husband on social media in which she is directed at his parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
Although she became famous after marrying the Beckhams' eldest child, Peltz is otherwise known for her acting career and famous parents - billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and model Claudia Hefner.
Her father is the founder of an investment fund based in New York, and was previously the director of several global brands, including Heinz.
Her mother was a successful model in the 1980s and 1990s, and the couple later had eight children.
They have been together for over 40 years.
Nikola grew up in New York and, in a 2019 interview, said that her parents tried to dissuade her from acting.
"I grew up playing ice hockey, and my dad really wanted me to continue."
"Then, when I was 11, I asked my mom if I could try acting - it started because I loved drama class."
"My parents were against it... They didn't understand."
They relented when she landed her first stage role in the play "Black Bird" at the Manhattan Theatre Club in 2005.
Her film debut actually came the previous year, when she played Mackenzie in the Christmas comedy "Revenge of the Ballroom."
She landed roles in M. Night Shyamalan's film "The Last Windrunner" in 2010 and starred in the series "Bates Motel" in 2013.
She also had roles in the film "Transformers: Age of Extinction" (2014) and the drama "When the Street Lights Come On" (2017).
Her next project is the indie film "Prima," where she plays the lead role of a ballerina, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Oscar winners Faye Dunaway and Mira Sorvino.
The script is based on a story and character she created herself.
Nikola also appeared in music videos "It's You" Zejna Malika i "7 Things" Miley Cyrus, and has posed for brands such as the Italian "Genny".
She made her directorial debut with the 2024 film "Lola", in which she also starred.
Nikola played a young woman trying to save money to get her brother out of a toxic family.
She previously admitted that she is criticized for her privileged position.
"I get a lot of mean comments on Instagram that I unfortunately read, and they always say, 'She doesn't work,'" said Nikola.
"And that's fair, and I don't blame them for saying that, because I don't publish my experience working on the film every step of the way. But I've been working on 'Lola' for six years. It's a very long process."
Reactions to the film have been mixed.
It received a 56 percent audience rating on the website. Rand a review by the London Guardian says that the film "abuses hardship."
In addition to her career, Nikola is known for encouraging followers to adopt or care for animals.
In 2022, the Peta organization awarded her an award as an advocate for animal adoption.
But it was her relationship with Brooklyn that further influenced her popularity, especially after their lavish wedding in 2022.
In a magazine interview Glamor, Brooklyn revealed that he met his future wife at the Coachella music festival.
Nikola often spoke about love and admiration for parents, and in an interview in 2024, she praised the Beckham family.
"Family is everything to me, and I mean that with all my heart," she said.
"I'm so close to my family and Brooklyn's family, and I don't think there's a better feeling than knowing you have a strong support system."
"It's a great blessing and I never take it for granted."
Although Nikola continued to publicly praise her family on social media, it was recently reported that she removed a post from her profile in which she congratulated her mother-in-law on her 50th birthday.
The two are now in a public feud with Brooklyn's parents, David and Victoria Beckham, after Brooklyn released a statement on Instagram saying he doesn't want to reconcile with his family.
