At least nine people have been killed and 25 injured, two of them seriously, in a shooting at a high school in the town of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Canada.
Police found six dead at the school, a seventh victim died on the way to the hospital, and two more bodies were found in a house near the school.
The attacker is also dead, and police said he inflicted his injuries on himself.
Police have not yet released the identities of the victims and attackers, nor their ages.
Authorities say they know the identity of the attacker, but have not released his name or gender.
The shooting occurred around 1:20 p.m. local time.
While a warning was in place for the public to stay safe, the suspect was described as a "brown-haired woman in a dress."
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has canceled a planned trip to Germany, saying he was "broken by the horrific shooting."
The school complex includes an elementary and secondary school, from which about 1.000 students and teachers were evacuated.
The town of Tumbler Ridge, home to about 2.400 people, is about 1.200 kilometers from Vancouver and close to the Alberta border.
It is known for its coal mines and waterfalls.
