On the day they meet US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the 47th anniversary was marked in Iran revolution that led to the creation of the Islamic Republic.
The revolution overthrew the Pahlavi dynasty monarchy and established the Islamic Republic of Iran, with Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini as its first supreme leader.
The current supreme leader of Iran is Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in whose hands the greatest power is concentrated.
In the square in Tehran, some carried large dolls with the likenesses of Trump and Netanyahu, while others carried posters depicting the US president and the Israeli prime minister with bloody hands or as devils.
The anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran is being marked after recent mass anti-government protests sparked by a major economic crisis.
In the brutal suppression of protests, at least 2.000 people were killed, and tens of thousands arrested, according to various non-governmental organizations that monitor developments in Iran and the Middle East.
The celebration of the Islamic Republic of Iran Day was organized at a time of great tension, the buildup of American military forces in the Middle East, and Trump's threats to the regime in Tehran that it will be attacked.
