There is a great book by the Colombian Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez "Love in the Age of Cholera". It is certain that someone fell head over heels in love this March as well, in the age of corona. There have never been, and never will be, obstacles of any kind for love. The elders, however, do not think of love but of how to avoid this unexpected scourge that has engulfed the entire planet.
A similar situation existed in Bar 41 years ago, after a catastrophic earthquake. You were not allowed to enter the house then, you are not allowed to leave it today. And Bar, these days, is sunnier, quieter, more spiritual and more beautiful than ever. Its ravishing appearance does not fit in at all with the harsh truth that danger lurks on its streets, in the contacts between its inhabitants.
A wise man said a long time ago: "Everything passes..." This torment called the corona virus will also pass. You can't run away from fate, but you don't have to rush to meet it either. Therefore, wash your hands as often as possible and keep a social distance of at least two meters.
In difficult times, bad people lie low and wait for their "five minutes" to hunt in the dark, while good people are in the front lines and do not spare themselves. Many simply put us to shame with their sacrifice, humanity, patience, optimism...
However, the heroes of our time are doctors and other medical personnel. And for that reason, let's go out to the balconies tonight and every next evening at 20 pm and thank them with applause for everything they are doing and will do.
This applause, both of support and relief, but also of solidarity, especially when it multiplies and pours down from the surrounding balconies, has a therapeutic effect, you will see for yourself.
