Just as the information that right-wing students succeeded in expelling two teachers from the secondary school "Mina Vitkojc" in Burg, in the east of Germany, passed lightly. The two tried to confront the thugs who threatened to beat up the immigrant students. They gave lectures about the country's Nazi past in vain. In a public letter, they stated that students greet each other with Nazi salutes, draw "swastikas" on benches and play music with racist lyrics in the hallways.
Nothing helped. An anonymous group of parents even demanded that Nickel, an English and history teacher, and Teske, a math and geography teacher, be fired. After various inconveniences, they decided to leave, further discouraged by the lack of support from colleagues, directors and local administration.

The recent, unpleasant, event at Utjeha beach caused a storm of reactions, especially on social networks. Some did not choose their words, as if they could hardly wait to fan the flames of our smoldering (religious and other) bigotry. On the other hand, Bar's Orthodox and Bar's Muslims once again passed the test: they reacted, for the most part, in a soft and balanced manner, in the good tradition of centuries-old religious tolerance here.

Srđa Dragašević, FIDE master and former president of the Chess Federation of Montenegro, has died. In his time, as well as in the time of his predecessor, Dr. Blagoj Cerović, in the first decade of the 21st century, chess experienced a boom in Montenegro. He was a good tandem with the also late Secretary of the SCG Marko Marković.
Srdja was loyal to the Shah. For decades, he gathered chess players in various competitions, from Romania to his Genovese, as well as in the clubs he financed. Those chess players, especially young, talented players whom he truly supported, were his eternal (grateful) friends.
He is one of the few who gave more to chess than chess gave to him.

I'm sorry that my father didn't wait to read the novel "Convicted Again", by the Albanian writer, journalist and artist Fatos Ljubonja, who spent 17 years in the casemates of Enver Hoxha. He was released from prison only in 1991, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, six years after the death of the dictator, extremely cruel to dissenters.
Fatos's father, the general director of the Albanian radio and television station, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, and his father-in-law, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Albania, to 25. Fatos's diary from his youth, found in his uncle's house, was enough to land him in prison.
The novel is about humans and non-humans, about good and evil. The execution (in 1979!) of the virtuous people Fadilje Kokomani and Vanđelje Ljež, although foreshadowed and expected, leaves, like the entire, wonderfully written book, a bitter impression.
But, such is life... as one of the heroes of the novel would say: "O mangi questa minestra, o salti dalla finestra!" (Either eat this soup or jump out the window).
