In a country described by foreign media as private, even after the adoption of the Law separating the police from the jurisdiction of the MUP, everything will remain the same. This means - the prime minister will decide on the way of action and functioning of our largest armed force. And not just any minister or police director. That's how it was under Đukanović, even under Lukšić (after he brought in Vuksanović instead of Veljović), and it's the same during Duško Marković's mandate.
Brajović himself knows it best. Because when he was the minister of the interior, the persecution of critics of the regime culminated. And to all (our) public appeals to do something, he replied that he was asking "only for ID cards and passports". He knew even then that the police was managed neither by him as minister, nor by Veljović as director, but by Đukanović. As Prime Minister. And to some extent his brother. Like Brajović's great master.
Hence, the politically crucial question is - what is the background of the first big jump of the SD from the coalition embrace of the big brother?! Is there a fear of repression on Wednesday or concern about the strengthening of Marković's power?! It seems, however, that the whole story has more to do with relations within the DPS or the ruling coalition than it testifies to Brajović's fight for principles and European standards. That's why the case of President Ivan reminds me of the one with Rector Radmila (Vojvodić). Namely, when the conflict between the Government and the Rectorate over the now-forgotten medical school in Berane started to escalate, I asked a friend, a retired politician, what it was all about. "That's what Milo is testing Duško - if the prime minister backs down in front of the rector, then he becomes his puppet and puppet, if he retaliates, then he confirms that he wants to be the true head of the government. This is for him to be or not to be," said the interlocutor. That he was right these days is also confirmed by President Đukanović's ventriloquist for several decades, the one from Antena M, who, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Government, openly laments that Marković refused to be an extension of the cabal of the head of the DPS! And how instead he built an independent position and strengthened his power within the Party and the system. An ungrateful man. And Milo created it, wrote the parrot.
After the "fall" of Radmila, the same circles began to complain that it was a dramatic attack on the University's autonomy. The Greek Drale, expert consultant Živko and this little mayor Ivan did not dry their cheeks for Radmila. We saw unprecedented cynicism, because we all knew that even before the rector, and for her husband, and after her, the UCG was and remained the party fortress of the DPS.
That is why Brajović's explanation about the opposition to the Law is equally convincing. Because it is clear that he cares about professional and controlled police as much as Ivan Vuković cares about the autonomous University. It is a story for small children.
On the other hand, I am not sure that the head of the DPS ordered the leader of the SD to take action and "ground" Marković, but it is very likely that Brajović thought that with such a move and result, he would gain even more trust from Đukanović. At first glance, Milo was fine with whatever happened. As in the case of the rector. If Brajović's plan had gone through, he would have been satisfied, because with the fall of the Law, the Prime Minister would have been significantly weakened. Since that didn't happen, he can tell Ivan - what did you need this for?
After all, it is clear that Brajović went head first into the strawberries. He pledged the party for a big thing that he clearly did not prepare well. That's why in the end he passed as Radmila. Figuratively speaking. Because Ivan remains at the head of the Assembly, but still quite wounded and weakened. Marković and DPS showed him that the SD is not the king in the balance and that some things can be done without them. By doing so, they sent him a message to beware of similar trips in the future because they can cost him even more. If he doesn't understand that, maybe VDT Stanković and his associates will truly investigate the case of the indisputable false testimony of the head of the SD in the Ramada case. Which is a crime. And for that you go to prison! Much earlier than because of what Medojević committed. But that is already the story of captured institutions in Montenegro, which we regularly read about in EC Reports
