With disease, everything is perverted, both suffering and happiness. October is also here, the month of fighting against breast cancer. Illness is not a shame, but it is the biggest taboo for our environment. Patients come in numbers, and instead of fewer and fewer, unfortunately, there are more and more every year.
I too had my number in Oncology in 2011, I left it there, fought with my steel will and discipline against this scourge of the modern age. I went through the hell of chemotherapy and radiation. Thanks to an eminent doctor, I am alive and well today. I'm not sick.
And just when you think the misfortune has stopped, another, third one comes. All to the same door, so you don't have time to escape. I am a mother and I fought for my sons, to live and enjoy my grandchildren Filip and Luka.
The fateful June 30 comes. In 2013, we lost our older son in an instant in a car accident in Brajići. The disease then represents nothing at all. How to survive and how to live with the pain of losing a child, even though he was a father and a husband. How to look at his sons with pain in the soul, sad eyes and constant questions about dad. Time is by no means a cure-all.
I learned to listen and be silent, to listen and also to shout, cry and most importantly - to love, to fight for my family. I will be alive. I sympathize with everyone and respect all women and mothers who find themselves in this kind of life story, because no one else can if they haven't felt it on their own skin. This is the hardest lesson, learning to live with pain and nights that are longer than life, waiting for dawn...
My light and hope are the younger son, Duško's love and their happiness Filip and Luka, my love.
Just one year later, the plague of disease came to our door again - the wife was crushed by the pain of losing her son. That's when I snapped and said ENOUGH. Enough has been taken from us. I had already gone through my ordeal with the disease, so this came as a remedial exam. I took a stand, I knew what was waiting for us, so together as a tandem, we rode the slalom of life and beat the disease, reaching the goal. Together, we are not sick. We are healthy for our descendants and better days that must come.
I don't complain about life, I think about my first son, who left too soon, he was kidnapped before me, so because of him and the whole house that remained healthy, I put a smile on my face, I'm alive and I'm still here...
To all lionesses and my family,
Suzana Jovićević
