A completely ordinary day, and then my husband tells me on the phone that he had a car accident. Because of the injuries, we have to go to the Emergency Center.
We report at the emergency desk that our husband is injured and we receive a paper and an explanation to report to the outpatient clinic.
Everything is going as it should, the treatment of the patient according to the injuries... the doctors and nurses are correct.
While waiting for the results, in addition to all the pain that comes over a person in an instant because life is like that, I couldn't help but observe everything that happens in the Emergency Center that day from 11 am to 16.30:XNUMX pm when we received instructions for the further course of treatment.
All roads lead us, as well as many citizens of this city of ours and everyone who finds themselves in trouble due to illness, old age and various accidents, to the Emergency Center, the Emergency Department.
Everything is the same as when the hospital was built in 1978. I know from experience and going to the same emergency center with close and extended family, as well as many who are reading this now - few doctors, little space, we even had to enter the large doors that are intended for ambulance.
There are plenty of patients, and those who are sitting and standing are all moaning and groaning from their pain. There is no shortage of tension and nervousness, we all would if we were the first, but it can't be. And here's why. Let's be realistic and honest with ourselves and with others.
When we entered, in the small outpatient clinic of a doctor who works with two sisters, there was an injured girl on one bed, another woman wailing in pain. There is also my husband who needs to sit down.
The doctor cannot work adequately in the situation and is concentrating, she is informed from the ward that a patient is unwell, she apologizes to us, to everyone, and runs to help. We don't protest, we stay and wait.
The ultrasound is in the next room, as is the x-ray. New patients arrive every hour, there is no room in the corridor, there are not enough chairs, there is not enough space in the observation room... and the most important thing - that day, a scene where a man waves his hands, shouts, threatens, swears that there is no order, that he does not know who is first and who is last.
Security is trying to calm him down, explain... Excruciating scenes... I've been following the events of attacks on doctors through the media and now I have the opportunity to watch it.
I'm not saying it can't be better, but how...
Who is responsible or does not see that for this number of patients, which were not few even that day, there are no conditions for doctors and patients. There are not enough doctors, and how will there be when you can see on the website that since 2014, 97 doctors have left KCCG.
They moved to the environment and in the region to work. WHY? How is it that our doctors seem to be better everywhere than in the family home?
Is it because of the data that 34 doctors were attacked, that a law will be introduced regarding the same problem and the sanctioning of nursing homes? And I wonder - will anyone have to heal this people?
Is there vanity, disturbed interpersonal relations among doctors, and it reflects on patients - of course.
Why not build a bigger Emergency Center that will be able to meet the needs of citizens, provide more doctors, nurses and, of course, inventory. Because as things stand, it's best to bring a folding chair each while we wait.
We are such a people that when something happens, half of the family and the neighborhood come to meet there, so you don't know who is the patient and who is the escort, and everyone is angry and dissatisfied.
We should take care and find a way to expand and organize the Emergency Center, to the general satisfaction of the citizens and the doctors who work there. Easier for us and them and security. And don't take offense - we are all sensitive when our loved ones are in danger.
