I always wonder when October starts, just like this one now, why it's so nice and sunny, it exudes some calmness... And all the other Octobers in the past eight years have been exactly like this one now. Is it because it is the month of the fight against breast cancer, so it inspires hope for many to fight and fight against a vicious disease that unfortunately knocked on many doors without notice, insidiously and unexpectedly...
What has changed from last October to this October? Over the last five years, our oncology department has progressed and is equipped with the most modern radiotherapy equipment and chemotherapy drugs. Preventive screening programs are carried out, all with the aim of early detection of vicious diseases, primarily in women who are the most important link in all segments of life.
I think that now also oncologists work as a team, that there is no vanity and individual competition as to whether someone is the best, because no one knows everything, but one should also listen to the second, third person next to him or her, and success will not be absent to the general satisfaction of both them and us. patients. Because - after all, we are all patients, no one dies healthy but from some disease, right?
It is the most difficult thing to accept that you are suffering from cancer, even more difficult than surgery, chemotherapy, radiation anesthesia, waking up from it when you are shaking with everything in the bed you are lying on, literally returning from the dead to life again.
That's when we need the most support, sympathy, but not at all pity, because here people confuse concepts, and all with good intentions. This stigmatization from the start suffocates the patient because, again with good intentions, everyone knows better than the patient what and when he should and should not do in order to get better.
It's not like that, every patient and every cancer is a story for itself. We need to listen to what our body is saying, help it to pass somehow easier because illness is a condition that must pass and has its own stages. Whether it's nutrition, rest, some kind of venting, there's no shame in crying, yelling, venting, relieving yourself, whatever - keep going. These diseases have two sides of the coin. You stay alive, whom luck serves, not evil misfortune, and the eternal struggle so that evil does not return... so everything spins in a vicious circle, until exhaustion.
I am also wondering this October, where are the remaining months of the year, or do we count each year exactly in October.
Apart from what has been written so far, I can't help but wonder where is the support and help for us women oncology patients from the ladies who sit in the parliament - to hang out with us even in October and ask if we need anything and give everything from myself from that position that we too have a place to gather, discuss and exchange opinions, improve the quality of life, because these diseases are serious and need help, starting with the gentlemen from the Ministry of Health, as well as the help of the Government. Because to someone, even a little means a lot. Personally, and from conversations with other women, I don't know in eight years that anyone has asked me if I need anything and how I am, that is, how we are.
We are alive, and unfortunately many are not among us and their children, no matter how old they are, and we are all more or less mothers.
Why shouldn't we have our own center for gathering, support, nutritionists, trained physiotherapists for our problems, with recreation rooms, all with the aim of improving the quality of life and returning to normal flows, however much. As before the condition and illness from the most serious disease, cancer.
In the hope that the aforementioned ladies will listen to everything that has been written, as well as the dear mothers who have given birth to three or more children, that they will also support us, because we are also someone's mothers.
Greetings to all women fighters.
