The term herd immunity refers to a situation when there are enough people immune to an infection in the population to stop it from spreading. At the same time, it is not important whether the immunity arose as a result of vaccination or because of antibodies in people who have suffered from the disease.
The unsigned reaction of the Social Democrats (SD) to the statements of the Union of Medical Doctors, in which they defended their minister Kenan Hrapović, is only an attempt by that party, and almost all parties in Montenegro are inclined to vaccinate us like a herd against any kind of criticism.
By replacing theses - the hierarchical culprit that medical workers do not have protective equipment should be made into a father and a political victim - and with a dose of party labeling, any criticism should be silenced in order to strengthen the immunity of the party and the ruling system.
Idleness, partyocracy and the associated incompetence of staff, official privileges and sinecures, insulting common sense should become additionally acceptable to the herd... And all this, as SD says, "at a moment when as a society we are facing the biggest health challenge in our recent history" .
When, apart from concern for biological survival and the economy, issues of democracy and human freedom, including freedom of expression, are no less important.
It should be vaccinated in time. And to the parrot's repetition from the authorities - now is not the time for criticism, we need to respond - it is not the time for silence either.
These borderline situations are the best scanner for the state of a society. And deformities should not be kept on therapy and ventilators. Because they threaten to jeopardize the good that has been done.
In an open letter to the Prime Minister, Duško Marković, the union of medical doctors only announced what everyone in the health system, and beyond, knows - that precious time was lost in two months of convincing Hrapović that we have everything and that we are ready for the new virus, even though health workers lack personal protective equipment.
That the Union of Medical Doctors and epidemiologist Milena Popović Samardžić are right, the best confirmation is the case of an infected doctor in Bar, and the isolation of practically the entire shift of the Emergency Center of the Clinical Center or the staff of the Health Center in Andrijevica.
Popović Samardžić only spoke publicly. It's not like she and some others didn't send letters to the Government and Hrapovic or verbally warn the management staff of health institutions.
Some kept silent about it or sent anesthetizing messages that everything is in the best order, such as certain representatives of "representative" unions who allowed themselves to become a "health" version of Pink that can beat the authorities on the head, as they have been doing for the last few months about the head the original Pink.
There are few professions like medicine where the line between savior, hero and killer is so thin.
Inadequately equipped medical personnel on the front line of defense against corona pose a danger to themselves, to their family and environment, and to patients.
That is why Popović Samardžić is a heroine in the age of corona.
In the letter, she stated that "the demonstration of privilege and power by Minister Hrapović and his family must once and for all be ended."
It seems that his term as minister is over. It just seems that Hrapović and SD have not yet realized that.
First, Marković said in his answer - I will not tolerate privileges, nor an approach and personal relationship that does not suit the situation and the challenge we are facing. We'll take him to his word. Second, recently the president of the National Coordination Team is Milutin Simović, although the Law on Population Protection stipulates that the president of that body is a "representative of the Ministry of Health". Therefore, Marković took an intermediate step. Hrapović is no longer sitting at the bank of the National Coordination Body, as it was at the time when tents for "disposal of medical equipment" were being stretched in front of the KBC, which, when the devil takes the joke, will be set up for their intended purpose - for triage.
And finally, the fact that the president of the country, Milo Đukanović, visited KCCG yesterday without the presence of Hrapović is a vivid message.
Hrapović knows that he or some of his associates had a reason to resign before. But it is always easy to find a justification for keeping the position or to convince those who hold the positions that there is no reason for dismissal or dismissal. Even when such justifications are found when human lives are at stake.
He came to the head of one of the most serious systems, which those before him were also collapsing. Let's just remember the malignant idea of Budimir Šegrt about the privatization of part of the health institutions and the still undetermined responsibility in the case of baby infection in Bijelo Polje, which forced Miodrag Radunović to resign.
Due to the herd phenomenon, Montenegrin society has become immune to many deviations. The apprentice is now the ambassador of Montenegro in Poland, Radunović is the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Boban Mugoša has managed the Institute for Public Health for two decades, and in this situation he is by far the most responsible strategist of Montenegrin defense.
In such a system, Hrapović, to use a phrase attributed to various politicians, was like Botticelli - beautiful and useless.
Now he can only be useful to the top of the government. As the first political clay pigeon who could be blamed and dismissed in case of a new failure in the corona era.
