The whole world is dealing with corona. In countries where democracy is developed, the authorities admit mistakes, openly talk about big problems, discuss necessary restrictions... In Serbia, however, everything is different. This country has seen everything so far, but nothing like the campaign that Aleksandar Vučić is currently leading.
The President of Serbia is omnipresent. He only talks about himself: he procures and delivers respirators, he reports on the condition of the sick as if he had come straight from a visit to a press conference, he relays his conversations with Chinese doctors, he introduces new restrictions... Often deconcentrated, regularly banal and overbroad , Vučić is contradictory, hyperemotional, and as such, the main source of constant insecurity and panic. And so from day to day, in the entire media space. No way to get bored.
The above could somehow be swallowed if there was no other part of this personal campaign. Namely, the president treats his fellow citizens like underage children - spoiled and ungrateful - who constantly anger him. That's why he preaches to them, scolds and shouts at them, threatens everyone with punishment for the disobedience of a few.
He blames the citizens for every mistake of his regime, and he is saintly sinless, a true ascetic, a victim of insidious enemies. These are - on any given day - guest workers, pensioners, dog owners, the European administration and, by no means last, journalists from independent media and political opponents. Vučić obviously got tired of the powerful addresses to the nation, so he began to perceive it as an expanded Main Board of the SNS. How much, is evidenced by the caricature imitation performed by his personal staff from Prime Minister Ana Brnbić downwards.
The argumentative and slanderous rhetoric of the President of Serbia has especially escalated in recent weeks. Most likely, public opinion researchers told him that his rating started to drop or at least oscillate, so he decided to step on the ball a little. However, nothing has changed. While Vučić is currently playing the caring father of the family, above politics and the passions caused by it, the army of bots and regime ventriloquists continues where he left off. A special contribution to this practice was made by tabloid journalists, who turned everything in his face against opposition leaders and independent media, and he patiently listened to them at the press conference, martyrdom and contritely refusing any comment before the end of the pandemic. This was not recorded during Milosevic's time, nor during the era of dialectical materialism.
Basically, the goal of this entire Vučić campaign is to show that only he knows what to do, that nothing can work without him and that if he wasn't there, they would fail like tomorrow. He is at the same time a determined head of state and director of a hospital and manager of a warehouse of medical supplies and president of the home world and a just but strict father... Simply - a single, irreplaceable, God-given savior. If someone is not yet worried about what Serbia will look like after corona, it is high time to start.
