A day like any other, the same for everyone. The fifteenth of February, the day that will determine the course of our lives, stay or disappear, my brother, me and my sister. Everyone's everyday life is the same, it starts with waiting in the morning to hear how many lives the corona is taking daily, the number of patients on a daily basis... That waiting for the day to dawn, as well as the spring that is about to come and bring the fragrance and colors of life to let's all return to normal flows.
Everything started quietly, first with my brother with cold symptoms. A cool day, then a night with the famous north wind in Podgorica. Corona. Waiting and testing begins at the ukCovid outpatient clinic in Zlatica. After two days of waiting under the temperature, he gets a positive result. I also get some fever, cold feeling and headache. Father is not well either. Everything you think is nothing, it will pass. We are all in isolation. The mother is semi-mobile, the father is isolated in a room, the brother is in another house... and all three are waiting for the development of the disease, because we were told in the covid outpatient clinic that they do not give therapy until the disease matures, that they wait... That maturation of the disease took many away in return...
My brother is getting sick, therapy is on, he's breathing hard... With him, it's really matured to the point that the corona has paralyzed him... He's taking pictures of his lungs... We only communicate via text messages, I guess you're waiting for it to get better. And it's getting worse for all three. Lucky for us and my brother that the lung scan, which was catastrophic, was noticed by the X-ray technician that day and sent the scan via Viber to a colleague who was away, Mrs. Radi Jovanović, to ask for advice on what to do. When she saw the video, she only asked: "Is this man alive... impossible... he should be called to go to the hospital urgently because he won't see the morning". No phone number was entered and his hours were ticked to the end. Mrs. Rada manages to find out the address and manages to have her almost half-dead brother taken to the KBC by the ambulance and placed in the pulmonology department. Every day they inform us: "Your brother's life is in danger, the parameters on which everything depends and that crazy sheer luck that the dice line up..." There was no more waiting for my father and me. We took a picture of the lungs. So, 9 days after the first symptoms, it was already pneumonia. Temperature pains in the head muscles bones, you have the feeling that someone is gouging out your eyes. The nurse and Mrs. Rada managed to examine us with a group of doctors, and we received therapy. They say nothing in life is a coincidence that certain people appear on your life's path, all for a reason. This time it was Mrs. Rada who was the main actor and participant for the happy outcome. For the life of my brother and all of us.
Brother and father next to each other in two rooms on machines... minutes are slow and hours, waiting and notification when you hear the phone ringing. The question is whether they are alive, how they passed, and saw the morning.... A mother writes a message to her son on the phone: You have to survive and come home, I gave birth to you healthy. He promised her he would come. You think positively and hope it will pass, because everything passes.
Stories from the covid zone are difficult, there is fear in everyone's eyes, there are rules that must be respected and obeyed because the doctors do their best, because that is where life begins and ends. They are all the same in the hospital bed, under masks and respirators, looks that speak more than a thousand words. They are fighting for a sigh and an exhalation, a shift and progress so that the lungs can breathe independently... Unfortunately, we are not the only ones who have suffered the ordeal of four from one family getting sick. A lot of families who lost their parents in one day, there in the red covid zone, the flag has no color, because every second a life is extinguished next to you.
Although they came home alive, it was with half their lives. You know, it feels like you're being labeled as having some kind of leprosy... contagious and deadly to the doctors, you just see the eyes under that space suit. Me, my brother, father and sister were lucky to survive.
Nothing is easy, a man swallows many things. All this leaves consequences for later. The repair is long and difficult. Each patient is a story for himself. The pandemic has been going on for too long, lack of doctors and technicians, general chaos in health centers. We will not respect the measures. Whoever survives will tell. Thank you to Mrs. Radi Jovanović that we survived.
