Scientists have long warned that humanity is on the path to self-destruction. The degree of planetary pollution of water, land, food and air has reached terrifying proportions. Pollution causes increasing damage to the health of all living beings, including humans; believe it or not, toxic materials are already found in the bodies of animals in the southern and northern polar circles. Potentially even more dangerous than pollution is climate disruption triggered by the suicidal activities of our "civilization". Scientific analyzes convincingly show that a large part of the planet, and even the entire planet, can become uninhabitable; only an urgent and radical change in the organization of human society can prevent the mass extermination of plant and animal species on Earth.
Unfortunately, only a small, single-digit percentage of the world's citizens understand the magnitude of the danger and the complete insufficiency of the measures we are taking to prevent a planetary catastrophe. This small part of humanity is the target group and a natural starting ally for all the projects I have proposed and am proposing.
Among the fighters for the survival of life on Earth (therefore among our potential allies) are many of the world's leading scientists and top experts in various fields of technology and production, who have chosen to be at the service of humanity, and not at the service of different centers of power (centers, which from of their blind interests, they work against the interests of humanity).
The beginning of this century also brought an increase in socially responsible capital, which has already greatly exceeded 10.000 billion dollars per year; socially responsible capital should not be idealized, but it is realistically the tamest, most humane and most intelligent part of the existing world capital. In addition to several hundred million citizens of the world, in addition to scientists and socially responsible capital, you can also count on numerous celebrities (singers, actors, athletes...) who, with their global popularity, can help spread knowledge and awareness about the need for urgent and radical changes in to the organization of human society.
Science and scientists have a special and greatest possible responsibility to warn in a much stronger and more organized way that we as humanity have reached the threshold of extinction and to energetically search for a new planetary decision-making system in which decisions contrary to scientific knowledge cannot be made. One of the possible ways to achieve this is to introduce a fourth power, the power of knowledge, in addition to the existing executive, legislative and judicial powers. Silence, and even an insufficiently strong voice of scientists, is complicity in the crime against, not some distant generations, but against our children and grandchildren. It should be clearly understood that all previous models of the organization of human society (primarily slave society, feudalism, socialism and capitalism) were the result of the power of certain groups to impose and maintain their interests. Never in history have we organized human society (and production as the foundation of society) on the basis of knowledge, but on the basis of power and the imposition of interests. If we want to survive this has to change. Human society on Earth can be sustainable only if it is peaceful and respectful of all people (and all living beings and nature in general), organized in a way that is the result of our knowledge and not the result of power and interests. Scientists must fight and fight for such an organized society.
World Forum in Cetinje
Because of this situation on the planet, as a contribution to the fight for the survival of humanity, it is necessary and realistically possible to launch the "World Forum for a Sustainable Society on Earth". It is my wish that such a forum, with the majority participation of eminent personalities from the world, be held every year in Cetinje (with the possibility of partial inclusion of two other Montenegrin cities).
During the holding of the forum (similar to the completely different forum in Davos), Cetinje would be in the center of attention of the world media and many of the world's important participants would become permanent friends of Cetinje and Montenegro. Additionally, the forum, as a concentration of knowledge, socially responsible capital and the possibility of free worldwide publicity, can open the door to various development projects, and to wit, it can also be the source of the real beginning of the "Ecological State" project, a project whose 30 lost years were solemnly celebrated by the Parliament of Montenegro Gore and declared September 20 (the date of the verbal commitment to the Ecological State) as a national holiday.
I will repeat, the Forum is feasible due to the existence of forces that clearly understand that our "civilization" (more precisely, our current system of production) is at war with nature, a war that we cannot win and which, if we do not stop it in time, will end in our extermination. In other words, our "civilization" is not sustainable and the most important and urgent task of humanity is to move from the current unsustainable organization of society to a sustainable organized society.
Forum concept
The Forum program foresees 2 separate parts:
1. Multidisciplinary scientific meeting "Sustainable society on Earth" dedicated to the following topics:
- Pollution and disturbances of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere (causes, current state and consequences, different scenarios of future development...),
- What is the best way to organize a "Sustainable Society on Earth" and how to make the transition from the current unsustainable to a sustainable society before it is too late.
2. A forum on various aspects of a sustainable society, which would in fact be a necessary (and currently non-existent) dialogue between scientists and other parts of society (from celebrities and socially responsible investors to politicians and non-governmental organizations). As an example, here is a non-exhaustive list of different aspects:
- Knowledge in a sustainable society and how to establish a new decision-making system in which science and scientists would have the power to stop any potentially suicidal activity of humanity,
- How to organize production in a sustainable society,
- Education in a sustainable society,
- Peacefulness and respect for every human being (and every living being and nature in general),
- Possible pilot projects.
Each of these topics and aspects is a story in itself and all together, in order to be understood in a way that is not superficial, they require a book, the writing of which I am nearing completion.
In parallel with the forum, the launch of the multidisciplinary scientific journal "Sustianable Society on Earth" is planned, which will publish scientific works, essays and ideas important for a sustainable society. The editors will be distinguished (mostly foreign) scientists from various fields of natural, technical and social sciences.
Will there be a forum in Montenegro?
Previous (numerous and long-term) contacts abroad have caused great interest and created a great willingness to help the realization of such an imagined forum in Montenegro. If everything depended only on foreigners, who understood the importance of the idea, the forum would be a sure triumph; the preparatory meeting of the forum would be held already in September of this year, and the first forum in May 2023.
However, bringing such an important forum to Montenegro requires very serious work. Potential foreign partners want to see besides me (as an individual whom they trust and respect) a serious team capable of organizing the Forum. It is also desirable to demonstrate the social, political and media "climate of support" for the forum (as Switzerland did and is doing for its forum in Davos).
It would be good for the forum if there was less hopelessness and despondency among citizens. For the forum, it is necessary that Montenegrin newspapers and television pay attention to the forum. However, all these are trifles compared to the problem of the complete lack of interest of professional politicians (both the government and the opposition, both at the local and state level).
By coincidence, at this historical moment, I could do much more for Montenegro than any other citizen, but no one can do everything alone in conditions of complete isolation and with Cetinje and Montenegrin support equal to the support I would have on the other side of the moon. The risk that the world's successful forum will still be organized outside of Montenegro is very high; it would be an incalculable loss for Montenegro and a lifelong wound for me.
