Honorable, virtuous, honest Montenegrin police officers, pride of Montenegro, proud Montenegro, happy October 2 - Police Day.

As someone who has been in a police uniform for almost 25 years, it is my pleasure to send you, as "the first among equals", my sincere congratulations and the belief that we bear the burden you face every day together.

From the moment when the Guard and the Perjanici were formed in 1831, until today, the Montenegrin police successfully respond to all security challenges that are put before it. I am aware that the material and technical means at our disposal are not ideal, but we are doing our best to ensure that the environment in which we will work follows the path of European standards. Already in the next year, I am convinced, we will have new vehicles, uniforms, hundreds of housing units that will be available to police officers.

I am proud because, despite all the problems, we bravely and courageously stood up to every criminal organization in Montenegro. We showed a high degree of professionalism, courage, but also respect and love for the state of Montenegro. I am proud because, in the process of painful healing and reform of the Montenegrin police, we are ready to accept the mistakes that were evident in the time behind us, to be self-critical in order to progress and be better day by day. The goal before us is only one - to enable a stable state of security in the country from which young people will not leave, but will build their existence and life story right here.

Respected fellow policemen, as you are obliged to protect the safety and interests of the citizens of Montenegro with maximum respect for their rights guaranteed by the Constitution, it is my duty to protect not only the interests of this institution, but also the interests of each of you individually. We are often the subject of attacks from various structures and currents, but we remain dignified and consistent in applying the law, which is equal for everyone.

I use the opportunity to express my respect to those who built this institution decades before us and gave their full contribution to preserving the security of society and the country in which we live.

I am pleased to point out that the "Montenegro Security Review", a scientific and professional magazine for theory and practice in the field of security, has been published, for which I owe special thanks to prof. Dr. Aleksandar B. Ivanović.

In the end, I am proud to be a part of the police organization, and I once again thank everyone for their patience and understanding, for their willingness and determination to make their personal contribution to making Montenegro the country that its citizens deserve.
