Vučić's politics has a kind of caricature in its foundation, in its essence. Not since yesterday, of course. On occasions like this, it only becomes more visible. The thunderously heralded council of all councils, council member, a place from where the ecstasy of the assembly of Vučić's faithful subjects will wash over all world addresses and consciences... or at least the shores of the Serbian world.
What are you going to do now, when the Parliament is entwined?, and so on.
It actually looked like the opening of some folklore festival from my socialist childhood.
Vucic is a miracle. He finished Jokic for the national team, saw off the footballers from Surčin, and everything else was a meeting. Someone says landing, but it's not far from the truth. 2500 folklorists in one place (it already sounds like a separate circle of hell), the biggest round in history is being played. With Vučica, everything is for history, but nothing for logic...
Don't you have the impression when Vučić, and his soldiers (Dodik, Mandić, Karleuša, Knežević) pronounce the word "parliament" and make it somewhat transitory, as if touched by some higher force. "We make the Parliament/The Parliament makes us", would be an ideal slogan.
Where did that mystical aura around the word come from?
Every church, including all Orthodox churches, since Nicaea, defines itself through four characteristics - "one, holy, conciliar and apostolic". Here "council" means "catholic", that is to say - universal, general, from the Greek Catholicos.
From the word Parliament we came to the religio-political concept of assembly. It is the merit of Russian Slavophile thinkers of the 19th century. (That's not the only water these gentlemen have muddied.)
How was "congregation" defined after that? This is where a controversial theologian enters the whole story Justin Popovic, beloved and dedicated in Serbia. From whom such a concept sabornosri takes the infamous Mita Ljotić - for him, the term was ideal to complement his fascist phantasms. Stable arrangement, the so-called organic society, actually a caricature idealization of patriarchal values and the spirit of the village cooperative. From the so-called from a religious concept to a right-wing ideal, sometimes it's not even a step...
As expected, this way of defining it will turn out to be attractive to right-wingers of all stripes. Because essentially it means - single-mindedness. One of the Serbian political parties that relies on the spirit of assembly in its program says that it does not believe "in the pluralism of interests in the Serbian people, but in its assembly, in a unique system of values and in a common destiny for all Serbs". If this isn't terrifying, I don't know what is. Besides such defenders, the Serbian people do not need enemies.
As soon as someone speaks for the crowd, it is clear that he is a fraud. But conciliarness, like almost all similar categories, is first of all a fraud, because the key effect of such a setting is - marginalization of opinions, any personal attitude...
The Parliament appears as the final body of the nation, that great organism of impersonality. Those "historical apparitions", as Fritz used to say.
And that is what excites these underworld rulers like Vučić and his vassals in the whole story. Tell people a story that seems serious, the Church is here, is it, and the end effect is - everyone stops thinking. Parliament is here. The Parliament decided. What else do you need, when you have Parliament.
Which, admittedly, is a fiasco. Because, according to Vućić's logic from the vote on the Resolution, all those who did not come to the Parliament are against it... So the Parliament has broken down.
And those whose ideal is to include Montenegro there, to subdue it, contributed quite a bit to the general, caricature tone of the entire event. Maybe they can't do it any other way.
If this is a reaction to the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, as announced, what is the meaning of the reaction? To show that Serbs are not "genocidal", but "playful people". In addition, it is extremely conciliatory. At least when it comes to folklorists. And war crimes.
