A character freaked out. He got into trouble because, allegedly, "Podgorica is becoming Islamized". He blamed Nermin Abdić for everything, some kind of concert and old town songs. That character uttered a text that unfortunately resonated, more for its horror than its quality. There is nothing but fear and hatred in that text. In that order. This is paranoia, because it is clear from the text that the author (whose name and surname should not be mentioned and promoted, that's why I call him a "character") has no idea of his own, no goal and does not create anything, he just wants to scare, to it is pretending that he is defending something, but he doesn't know anything about anything.
In vain the apology of the portal where the text was published, in vain the deletion of the text, because someone had to read it, approve it, edit or proofread it, organize it and only then hang it up. If this is not done, then there is no journalism. Mistakes and trifles creep in, but that entire text is woven of hatred and someone had to notice it. This is not the first hate-mongering text, there were also on other portals, more or less topical or breaking news, but whenever they appear, one must react.
But the least problem with that text is that it is badly written, the bigger problem is that the text is dangerous. These are not ordinary nonsense, they are dangerous nonsense. They can be flammable if they penetrate the target group. This is usually how those who are frustrated, with themselves, write and act, and it is not a new phenomenon. They need someone to blame, they need justification for the situation they found themselves in. That character is just a confirmation of the matrix. He pointed the finger at the Muslims, because they are spreading and singing. But such social phenomena must be reacted to, because to remain silent means to undermine or promote them. We need to react when Muslims are presented as new invaders, but also when Serbs are presented as a disruptive factor and when it is suggested that they prepare tractors, when Montenegrins are presented as victims of conspiracies or pushed under the carpet.
Election campaigns are getting dirtier, because politicians think they know everything and rely more on attack than investing in creativity and new ideas. This leads to mutual spitting. But the mentioned text goes beyond spitting, it is unfair and dangerous targeting of Podgorica's Muslims, first of all Nermin Abdić. In this case, I don't care that Nermin is a member of the DPS. No one, not even him, deserves to be targeted in this way, just because he is a Muslim, or because he is not something else.
The author of this text (published in ART) did not and will not vote for Nermin Abdić (mainly because of DPS), but he will always defend Nermin from others whenever he is attacked on religious grounds. I guess that's the point of Podgoricaism. Because people are only allowed to divide themselves into humans and non-humans. No different, only good and bad. Respect is not built by force, neighbors are not helped or visited by force. This is built over years and generations.
It would be useful for this occasion to discuss how many Orthodox and how many Muslim characters are in the book "Examples of Manhood and Heroism" by Marko Miljanov. Those who think that "Podgorica is becoming Islamized" would be surprised by the fact that Marko Miljanov gave whom space in the book.
For this occasion, we should go back to the book "Blessed Land" by Milovan Đilas, read his testimonies about the crimes committed by Montenegrins against the Muslim population after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. No one was there with clean hands, neither conquerors nor liberators. It is necessary to remind, to wake up, to appease, to warn, so that texts full of hatred are not written in 2024 in Montenegro.
The city is a supranational creation, was and will be. If it's a real city. That is why such phenomena must be talked about loudly and openly. Whichever side is wrong, the finger must be pointed at the sowers of hatred. It has to be, so that it doesn't happen after "Why would this happen all of a sudden, when we got along so well?".
