The quality of politics is not only contained in the question of who performs it, but also how it is performed. If after the change of one structure comes another, and it continues with the same pattern of behavior - the result remains the same. There are no changes in the way of conducting politics, but only a replacement in the positions of functions and centers of power.

My answer to all this could have been - distance. And many would accept it, wishing that "nothing is disturbed" and that the system continues to function according to the old matrix. In the "comfort" of the presidential office, in that case, I would not be different from others, and I myself would become part of a new political structure that betrayed the idea of the promised changes.

However, I decided to persevere on the path of political struggle for change. Changes that strengthen democracy, increase responsibility and do not rest on the postulate that the transition process is over with the removal of the old government.

The local elections confirmed that the citizens of the Capital City, where one third of the total population of Montenegro exercise their right to vote, do not want the continuation of bad practices within the framework of new political structures.

The majority of citizens showed their deviation from that policy by boycotting - abstaining from these elections, thereby clearly sending a message to everyone about what they think about the current state of Montenegrin society.

This is precisely why we must continue the process of the necessary transition, which includes fundamental reforms and punishes improvisation and irresponsibility. This is the only way to achieve our EU Agenda 2028 and full membership of Montenegro in the EU.

This goal cannot be reached through passivity, political calculations, populism, pacts with crime or nationalism, simulating reforms and European integration, promising unrealistic and unachievable plans, mass party employment in the public sector, and cumbersome and inefficient governments.

In 2020, one government fell - lost the trust of the citizens precisely because of these shortcomings and the inability to respond to them. The local government in Podgorica lost its trust in 2022, and this one in 2024. Any subsequent government that continues to function according to the same pattern will also fall. And that is the greatest achievement that the citizens fought for on August 30, 2020.

It's time for a pattern change. In the hope of stimulating this process with my actions, I live in the belief that I was not elected to be part of the "ruling elite", which replaced the old one in order to rule in the same way, but that I was given a mandate to be part of the new generation of Montenegrin politicians, who were given the responsibility to pave the way to a prosperous, just, European and civil Montenegro.
