Geopolitics - an excuse for everything

We, as a world, have entered the 21st century full of hope that conflicts and wars are a thing of the past, that technology will serve humanity, that the number of states with prosperity and peace will grow. We got war hotspots, unprecedented levels of inequality, the growth of states into branches of the most powerful corporations...

Geopolitics acquires a religious meaning or is used as axioms in science... it becomes unquestionable. And in the name of geopolitics, people are being killed en masse, yesterday in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Arab countries, the Balkans - not to mention Africa; today in Israel, that is, Palestine, Ukraine, even Russia, Lebanon, Iran - not to mention Africa; tomorrow, who knows, maybe in Syria, Iraq, maybe in Taiwan, maybe in some Transcaucasian countries, and maybe in some European country... because Israel and Ukraine are close by, and the EU is not a passive observer of events, but an active rather than a fan... and mostly to our own detriment – not to mention Africa.

The artificial intelligence answered me that "Great powers, such as Russia, the United States of America, and other international actors often use conflicts to achieve geopolitical goals." For example, according to AI, the Russian invasion of Ukraine is, among other things, an attempt to prevent the expansion of NATO. The answer also mentions "other great powers" - in general. Even for the war in ex-Yugoslavia, AI mentions the geopolitical goal of Russia and other major powers. And only geopolitics is briefly defined as follows: "Geopolitics refers to the influence of geographical factors on international relations and politics." In the context of wars, it has enormous significance because great powers use conflict to expand or preserve their sphere of influence."

We, as a world, have entered the 21st century full of hope that conflicts and wars are a thing of the past, that technology will serve humanity, that Europe will strengthen and expand, and that the number of states with prosperity and peace will grow. We got war hotspots of such intensity that neither a world war nor an atomic war is unrealistic anymore. We got unimaginable levels of inequality between individuals and states, we got states turning into branches of the most powerful corporations, we got that most political choices in the world come down to choosing the lesser evil, we got politics turning from long-term visions into short-term gains for a small number of people, and that the media become mere fans of such and such elites. Electoral systems have become bureaucratized and based on the control of the political bureaucracy, but also on the minimization of damages for the invisible financial elites of the world.

Parallel to the rise of greed and selfishness, solidarity and compassion are disappearing. What is even more horrifying when the facts are arranged like this is that in the struggle for all kinds of resources, no attention is paid to the crimes, destruction and suffering that this struggle leaves behind, nor to the short-term results of these victories. At least America has gone from territory conquest, slave ownership and the wild west to a welfare state in a short period of time. For the others, that journey took longer, if they ever completed it... but they all together had to see a chance for peace to win over greed - and they didn't.

The merciless fight for resources, primarily minerals, will continue. Another missing resource appeared recently. People! In Europe, the average age of first-time mothers is from 26 to almost 32. There is a huge drop in fertility all over the world. China will lose half a billion people by the end of the century because of the one-child policy that curbed population growth. The rich now buy people with a better standard, but they also bought oil and other minerals for a (short) time - let's hope that some corporation above politics will not remember slave ownership as a profitable model. And slightly intensify the wars for that. While we wait for those results, we will start and end every news story with lithium.
