The year passed in the feeling that there is no evil that happens under the auspices of the government, whether it is the theft of elections or corruption that kills, and that it stops and relaxes the constraints of enslaving Serbia with a strategy of a combination of violence, threats and bribery. The dynamics of political life were determined by larger or smaller waves of rebellions and subsequent consolidation of the regime, which was followed by a new senselessness of any attempt at change. At the same time, the activities of the authorities on the hyperproduction of illusions, which were lifed at lightning speed, and replaced the entire reality in which we live with an ordinary simulation, intensified. Plans, drawings, mock-ups, sweet promises and numbers on the president's board play an important role in it, which are mostly envied by Croats, and which are not understood at all by those for whom they are intended.
The year thus passed in overshadowing simplicity (Louis Vuitton, etc.), magician's tricks about gold prices and unprecedented successes, but also in the bitter knowledge that human suffering can be used as a sack of cement that is dragged from one construction site to another, regardless of whether it's about elections, support rallies or Kosovo. And all this with the incredible hyperproduction of the appearance of the president, who with his omnipresence tries to silence any possible doubt and resistance. And with the almost ritual humiliation of associates, opponents and journalists who would like to ask him something.
The year passed with the great effort of the most visible leaders of the government to create an atmosphere and direct a mise-en-scène in which the president will feel exceptional, who understands, knows and can do better than everyone else. There was not a single speech, not even the most banal address, that did not repeatedly quote his wisdom or emphasize his merits, which would be the envy of even the most prominent poltroons of dictatorial regimes, from the past and present. But as if all that was not enough, the president's self-praise became caricature. The year also passed in shame before his "unlike you" addresses, which multiplied to the point of obscenity. Televisions, Instagram, network X, and so on, sometimes several times a day.
And when social and political depression threatened to kill all personal resistance and make every effort futile, when it seemed that the tide of aggression and single-mindedness threatened to suffocate even the last hope for the possibility of change, when the tragedy in Novi Sad showed that corruption literally kills, and that the thugs of the regime are ready to beat until everyone shuts up - suddenly, as when the dawn breaks out of the darkness, a riot took place without anyone noticing. It was brought by students and pupils. Those who do not believe in fairy tales, Santa Claus and false authorities and who naturally and organically react with rebellion. Because what they said with their rebellion is so simple and true: You must not beat us. You must not intimidate us. You can't hide the beaters because we know who they are. Manipulations do not pass. It's not worth lying. We won't let you humiliate us. You can't bribe us. You can't buy our affection. It's not worth criminalizing us. You try in vain to divide us and waver and insult us.
Students and pupils, at the end of this year, have become the torchbearers of the dawn that is slowly waking up and sobering up the Serbia in which they want to stay and for which they want to fight. And that is a country where it will not be possible for the president to say: "Students want to humiliate me because they won't talk to me, but those they talk to will definitely ask me." Young people are now opponents of such a way of governing. We will see the outcome. Happy New Year!
