After two days and almost 21 p.m., the last session of the Nikšić Municipality Assembly this year ended. The marathon session did not last so long because of the large number of points (because it happened that there were so many before), but, it seems, because of the local elections that follow in March next year. The assembly speaker and the fact that local television broadcasts the session directly (as well as every previous one since 2021) served the councilors well for the election campaign.
After properly noted quotes, rounded discussions, sketched topics and 80 percent of the written text, I gave up on the report. Somehow, it seemed to me like the most honest attitude towards myself and those similar to me who closely watched the parliamentary session (it's true, when it comes to me, only two hours in the hall, the rest on "small" and "big" screens). If you're asking why, the answer is easy – we'll be listening to all of this again after the holidays. And not once, but who knows how many times. Until the March elections. March is close in time, but not when it comes to the election campaign. Then the moon lasts like eternity. And in Nikšić, at least unofficially, the pre-election campaign has already started.
True, there was talk at the session, not that it wasn't, about the items on the agenda. There was a lot of talk about that as well. But every now and then, quite by accident, or quite deliberately, councilors would divert into side "gloves" and forget what topic was being discussed. Some people would have warned that things had gone off track again, that the topics being discussed were not on the agenda, but few were interested in that.
There was talk about political employment, about "Montenegrin" and "Serbian" asphalt, about (il)legal judgments and decisions, arrested and almost arrested ministers, again "Serbia was attacked" and "Montenegro was saved" and everyone had (not) enough arguments to emphasize points that are off the agenda. Throwing was thrown from the parliamentary benches, warnings were given, luckily there was also laughter, although those who watched the session of the local parliament for two days at least had a laugh.
We heard about failed professions, "frozen" led lighting, about the wish list before the elections, we saw how people dream with their eyes open and "fall" unconscious when the tricolor and the Montenegrin flag fly. We found out how Nikšić is "fighting", but also how certain battles have not yet been fought, how emotional it is to be tied to armchairs, and yes, even if it should be like that, everyone who has damaged the state must be held accountable, regardless of how they declare themselves nationally. and how many fingers he holds up. We also learned that a long government corrupts longer, that the reformed are still unreformed, that the leader from the shadow still rules, that some fill seats on the board of directors and in directorial positions, while others are in cells in Spuz and in the Investigation Prison. We also discovered that a "sailing" competition was held in Nikšić, that cardboard can "kill", that it is popular these days to serve the HDZ, that Montenegro is not Serbia, but neither is Croatia. In the end, we were advised to get out of the maze of misconceptions and myths and to fight for a better Nikšić with a pencil.
And yes – all 29 points were adopted. If anyone is even interested in that.
Dear men and women of Nikšić, happy election year 2025. Get ready - "we're taking off". This session was just a warm-up after all.
