Nothing new in the West, although Nikšić has never been the West. But geography plays its part. And not only Nikšić, but also Bileća, Stolac, Čapljina… They are even further from the West, but when we head towards Europe they are the shortest route for us. And only when we pass under all their flags, Montenegrin, Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian, and somehow reach the highway and Split, only then do we have the feeling that the East and the Orient are left behind us.
Nothing new in Nikšić and in our west, so the local AFD can continue to mock us with promises that Mandić will carry us to Brussels on his back. While on the same topic, the domestic version of Salvini writes letters to Marti Kos (not Putin). On the other side, relaxed and rich, sits our Che Guevara, with a Cuban tomboy and a Swiss watch worth 106 thousand euros, defending equality, brotherhood and anti-fascist values.
That's why five years after the famous August 30, 2020, Montenegro is petrified, in the same place. Or in the same form.
On the one hand, the DPS, which has neither the will nor the strength to look in the mirror and truly reform, and on the other, the ZBCG, with its retrograde ideology and values, wholeheartedly helped by the supposedly civic and anti-fascist PES and the Democrats!
Then no serious person in Nikšić could expect anything other than the results that were achieved. DPS celebrated another victory, but over the opposition, and Aleksa and Mickey fled to Herceg Novi, in order to avoid Nikšić's Šubaro and his triumph, because they too are starting to feel uncomfortable with the political group to which they give legitimacy to the government and whose home country is Serbia. And the West - Trebinje.
DPS announced over thirty percent support, expected 33, and dreamed of up to 38! It got something in between, but the guild was paid for by three small lists from the civic corps (Radulović, Abazović, Marković). Mandić's ZBNK coalition profited in a similar way. Šubara took what he dreamed of and not what he hoped for. Over 35 percent. Which swallowed up Momo and his faceless carrier (Vuković), who was invisible during the last term, acting as Šubara's chief of protocol and not as the president of the municipal council and the leader of a party that was not formally on Mandić's list. Red Momo ran in these elections under some new blue color and flag, Aleksa and Boris ignored him and hence the result - a drop from 11 thousand votes in 2021 to barely 3 thousand in 2025. Part of that huge difference went to Mandić's list, the other to Spajić, and some to abstention.
Compared to the parliamentary elections, PES also dropped significantly, by over 4 thousand votes, but Spajki and company boast about the result that makes them the famous weight on the scales - there is no government without the Prime Minister's subject. If Mickey, or the leader of the list Mrkić, were the same as Dritan, and they boast that they are not, they would seek the position of mayor, so whoever supports - supports.
Speaking of Abazović, although he lost much less in numbers than Koprivica and Spajić, he suffered the heaviest defeat politically. Still, at the end of a four-year drive in his favorite formula car, Dritan turned out to be an immature driver. Instead of a safe and victorious drive, he slid along the track, from shoulder to shoulder, from mistake to mistake, only to end up in the ditch. He didn't like being the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the entire security sector, he wanted the position of Prime Minister, to be like Vučić or at least like Rama, only to end up with nothing, like Slavko Perović. He was the most desirable bridegroom in Montenegrin politics, only to become the black sheep, from whom everyone runs away, almost as much as from Milo and DPS. It's a shame. Because he was a promising boy for a long time.
Nikšić fell, therefore, because civic Montenegro fell. What I wrote about before the elections in Podgorica has also been proven. That only the inclusion of the head of state Milatović in the election campaign can save the capital from the victory of the local AFD and his unwilling accomplices from PES and DCG. It is now clear that the result of Milatović's list of about 11 percent was dominantly his merit, and that thanks to that, the civic bloc in Podgorica survived and won. Everyone saw it except for the weak Jakov, who then surrendered to Spajki, or Mandić. Milatović thus politically buried himself and the idea of the civic center that he himself promoted. If he had taken the keys to Podgorica, he would now have walked smoothly through Nikšić, leaving Bečić and Spajić to fight for the census. And Šubaru to cry over the cowardly Serbianness extinguished.
When everything is added up, the only thing that can be considered positive news from this year's battle for Nikšić is that the election day passed democratically and with the recognition of the results by all participants in the race. This does not mean that the elections, overall, were free and fair, which is illustrated by the striking fact that a quarter of the candidates from the ZBNK list are employed in the state, sorry party, EPCG! Which is reminiscent of the DPS formula of Jelić and his wife - one employee, four votes. But, that is already a topic for the contractors of the electoral reform that we have been waiting for longer than we have IBAR.
The actors of the Nikšić elections are about to face the results. In five years, DPS has shown that it has no intention of changing anything fundamentally, Đukanović remains a historical figure and honorary captain for them, and low salaries and poor social policy are the main shortcomings and failings of the three-decade government. ES has a limit and is between 4 and 5 percent, with a similar view of the political past. They would not change anything, they are only sorry that Ranko was not in Milo's place. Therefore, the space for the possible formation of a new, truly civic and anti-fascist party is an urgent need if this concept of society and state is to be defended.
PES is an incredible story thanks to an unusual leader. With a tendency to interpret facts, and then reality, in an artistic way. So creatively. That is why extraordinary and unprecedented situations occur in the parliamentary history of the modern world. For example, a ruling party in a country, whose leader is also the prime minister, does not have a local committee in several cities of the same country. So it happens, as in Novi, that it does not run in the elections but supports a local list. The list of Novi. And then on election night Spajić points to the winning press of another party in HN and not to his own losing one in NK. The party seems bewildered and disoriented, as evidenced by the results the day before yesterday - Herceg Novi zero percent and zero council mandates, Nikšić four and a half thousand votes, which is almost 50 percent less than in the parliamentary elections in that city in 2023.
As for the Democrats, they have come to terms with Mandić's leadership, and it clearly doesn't bother them anymore. Nemanja Vuković and Momo Koprivica are the first victims of such politics. I'm afraid they won't be the last.
DPS holds the entire sovereignist bloc in a death grip, and with the narrative about Mandić as the leader of the majority, it helps PES stay with it, even though it thinks it is doing the opposite! PES, on the other hand, is hostage to Mandić's and Vučić's narrative about the criminal and mafia-like DPS, which Šubara, the mayor, has now honestly and openly announced, claiming that everyone who votes for sovereignist parties is a mafia. That has been the policy of AV and official Belgrade from the beginning. To criminalize not one man (MÐ) or one party (DPS), but the entire civic and anti-fascist concept of society. It does not even occur to PES, and even less to the Democrats, to point out the mafia, crime and corruption that reign in Belgrade, where Vučić and the SNS operate in the same or even worse way than Milo and the DPS here. This colossal fact is being swept under the rug and the stigma of criminality and mafia-like behavior is being kept only over the head of the DPS in order to freeze, and eventually collapse, the entire civic story and structure. And that is why Mandić will triumph in the next parliamentary elections, similar to how his talented Šubara in Nikšić did the day before yesterday. And Spajić and Bečić will democratically, because they don't know any other way, vote for Andrija Prime Minister, as the leader of the list that won the largest number of mandates. This would pave the way for the Mandićs to win in the presidential elections as well. Regardless of which čaci they would put forward as a candidate. Here Milatović is already being offered to them, and it would not be surprising if čaci from Knežević jumped out as a runner for head of state. And Dodik could then voluntarily report for prison because official Belgrade would get a much more serious and important Republika Srpska, with access to the sea, and a mole within NATO.
Although minority parties did not participate in the elections in two “Serbian” cities, Novi and Nikšić, for objective reasons, their merits should also be mentioned. Like Spajić and Bečić, Ibrahimović, Đeljošaj and Đeka are also playing dead. Giving Mandić their hands and votes to strangle civil and anti-fascist Montenegro.
