It's a shame that Mandić, in his best wishes to the President of Serbia for a speedy recovery from the fiasco in Florida, did not include Joanikije, the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro. Because he had just as much reason to wish Mićović a speedy recovery. From the fiasco, not to some prayer service in Bosnia, where an organized group of priests spread hate speech worthy of those on the eve of the wars and crimes of the 90s. When, like Joanikije these days, various Irinejs and Filarets also justified themselves by saying that they did not want to quarrel and shed blood among their brothers and neighbors, but only to remind them. Only then did things get out of control. Fuck him, said Porfirije and hugged Putin.
That "time of evil" was later sung by Đorđe Balašević, with unforgettable verses: And then the priests came... Well, cannons.... Well, thieves...
With a heavy price paid, hundreds of thousands killed, millions displaced, and a missed historic opportunity for society, from centuries of lack of freedom and tyranny (which was heartily preached by priests like the Russian Cyril and the Serbian Porphyry), to finally experience democracy and freedom.
That's why even today, three and a half decades later, some Aleksić from the Government of Montenegro and Dodik from the head of some RS, can use state money to finance priestly activities and prayers where so-called great martyrs from the ranks of church leaders but also war commanders are commemorated! People like Pavle Đurišić and the like, whom you've never heard of, so Joanikije set about the task of listing them all, mentioning them, singing their praises and thus preserving them from mostly deserved oblivion. Along with their decorations, among which the Nazi Iron Cross stands out, which, historians say, could not have been awarded to anyone without Hitler's personal amen. And not even Joanikije's Pavle Đ.
It sounds incredible and terrifying, but it turned out that Hitler and Joanikije are on the same side of history! Because the former, back in 1944, granted the highest decoration to Đurišić for his work and achieved results in the field, while now, in 2025, or 80 years later, the same man P. Đ. is joined in congratulating him by the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Serbia 2.
Merits and best results in work include ethnic cleansing of territories, cruel murders, executions, rapes and pogroms of the civilian population on religious or ideological grounds. It is clear that Joanikije could not have recognized the pregala work and results of Pavle Đurišić as Hitler did because he was only born in 1959, but the question arises why he suffered injustice and waited for decades to declare himself. So that all those who did not know who was succeeding Metropolitan Amfilohije, or had illusions about it - would understand in time who they were dealing with.
This is how - Joanikije arrives in Kosovo late. What is defending it when it does not defend it. It is too late to remember to magnify the figure and work of Đuriišić as a "great hero of invincible character". It is too late for Mićović to join the Chetniks because science has long since placed that group on the wrong side of history. That is why Joanikije's persistence in promoting lost territories and defeated ideologies is respectable, which does not diminish the disastrous consequences of such an outpouring of hatred and exclusivity by a church leader.
The question arises from all this whether the communists, by marginalizing such a church, were doing harm to the people or were they saving them from suffering, directed by wrong priests and dangerous cannons. The image of the great dignitaries of the Serbian Orthodox Church, from Porphyry to Joanniki, symbolizes the priestly elite of the Serbian Orthodox Church which, with some exceptions, shoved cannons into the hands of the innocent and unfortunate people instead of the Gospel and faith, and hatred and envy into their hearts. That is why the people that they, together with Milošević, Karadžić, and Mladić, led from victory to victory, from Ovčara to Srebrenica, ended up as a European pariah, on the margin of historical changes, opened by the collapse of spent communism. Instead of being in the EU and NATO, the people led by such a church and clergy ended up in the last carriage of a regional composition, miles away from European tracks and values.
And what's most unfortunate, with a trademark in their name crimes committed, the largest on European soil after World War II, as a result of which political, but not religious leaders, ended up in The Hague, with verdicts even for genocide.
That's why Porfirije, together with KGB translator Irinej Bulović, flies to Putin's feet, kisses the skirts and hands of the Russian dictator, soaked in the blood of Moscow's oppositionists and the Ukrainian people. Begging him along the way to join the Serbian world with the Russian one, so that they and the Russians would finally come to 150 million, and that is, at least for regional circumstances, a serious figure with which it is possible to threaten, harass, displace or kill compatriots and neighbors, on political, ideological or religious grounds. Like Pavle Đurišić, then.
So Joanikije and Mandić carry us on their shoulders towards Brussels, evoking memories of the greatest promoters of Europeanism and philanthropy from our recent past, like Pavle Đurišić. Or Milan Nedić. Or when they throw a little further and remember 1918, then the classic quislings who led the process of destroying their own state also turn out to be "heroes of an invincible spirit". Like Andrija Radović or a certain Petar Baćović.
However, the biggest problem of today's Montenegro, which is taking giant steps towards the EU, as Deputy Prime Minister Filip I would say, is not Joanikije Mićović. Nor is Andrija Mandić. They cannot escape themselves, their minds and ideology. The problem is in the alleged civic parties and leaders. From whom Mandić gains legitimacy of authority and power, while Joanikije surrenders not only the kingdom of heaven, but also this earthly one. To revise history, to inflame divisions and to enslave believers with conspiracy theories and stereotypes...
With such leadership, Serbs are doomed to further historical backwardness and decline. The past 35 years have been few.
After the referendum and rescue from the jaws of lack of freedom and nationalism, Montenegro had a historical chance to leave that pan-Slavic and not just Serbian world forever. And the Titanic. But Đukanović and his group, instead of an organized and democratic state, created a private one. Thus, corruption and crime have silenced every true patriot from saying anything in defense of such a creation. Even when the priests and cannons start attacking it, in the second act, and in a new attempt to round off some sad, xenophobic and sick Serbian world. At least that was the case until 2020. Đukanović's regime and their Montenegro have become easy prey for Mićović, Mandić and the Grand Vizier Vučić.
But in every evil, there is also something good. In less than five years, it has become clear that Montenegro has been beheaded, humiliated, trampled. The circle is led by chauvinists and nationalists, priests, guns and thieves, all of which return society to the most tragic 90s. Hence, Joaniki's justification that his intention is not to spread divisions and provoke conflicts, seems like the most brutal cynicism. He just doesn't tell us - let's reconcile, but let it be as I say. Pavle Đurišić enters our textbooks as a "great hero of invincible character", Duklja as an old Serbian state, the partisan movement is rechristened from liberation and anti-fascist to criminal and slaughtering, while the quislings of 1918 are proclaimed unifiers and patriots!
It is devastating that a man who not only harbors but also publicly promotes such attitudes and values is considered the Metropolitan of Montenegro. For whom the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, Ivanovic, claims in Brussels, is far from Porfiry and the malignant Russian influence. Just as far as Mandić is from Vučić and Knežević.
With the aforementioned statement, Philip I only confirms that all the leaders of the current government are in the hands of Joaniki. That is why he feels comfortable in spreading hatred and division, historical revisionism, trampling on anti-fascism, and that means Europe Day, which is celebrated on May 9th. And not on March 12th, for example, in the sign of the Anschluss of Austria, with which Hitler set out to conquer Europe. In which, each in his own way, Prime Minister Milan Nedić and Patriarch Nikolaj Velimirović wholeheartedly supported him. For Joaniki, there are also “great heroes of invincible character”. The best evidence of which is the Zemun concentration camp Staro Sajmište. For which there is no place in Joaniki's and Porfiry's prayers, probably because it was “ours”. And not “theirs” like Jasenovac.
And then Spajić and PES, Bečić and DCG are surprised that they are dying. In the jaws of Joanikije, whose hands they kiss, and Mandić, whose skirts they are on. Both "unwilling accomplices" of the joint venture of the Serbian Vizier AV. Whom Mandić knows well, he never gives up. And he does not leave the job unfinished.
The summary would be - there is no salvation for the region without lustration. Both on earth and in heaven. That is, both among thieves and priests. The guns are probably safe, while NATO is alive.
