Everyone wants the destruction of Hamas. Is there anyone who is against it? The extremists want it before the hostages are released, the moderates say: first let's free the hostages, and then we will destroy Hamas. This illusion needs to be exposed: destroying Hamas is the wiping out of the entire people, or at least all the men in Gaza. It is genocide under the guise of decency. Although a seemingly legitimate goal, especially after October 7, it is impossible to achieve it without trampling all of Gaza. Therefore, destroying Hamas is a criminal goal. As long as the occupation continues, it will never be achieved. Even if the resistance is not called "Hamas", it will be cyclically renewed, and Israel will stifle it.
Under the guise of destroying Hamas, a mass slaughter of men in Gaza is now taking place, little talked about. A handful of conscientious Israelis and global public opinion are focused on the slaughter of women and children being killed on an apocalyptic scale. Apart from the Israeli fascists in and outside the Knesset - of whom there are many - no one is indifferent to the sight of dead children in Gaza. But the exclusive focus of world public opinion on children and women indirectly legitimizes the slaughter of men. As if they were not innocent.
It is impossible to destroy Hamas without killing the men and boys in Gaza. Everyone alive in Gaza is at risk, especially if they have any income from Hamas. And with tyrannical rule and under a 19-month-long siege, every medical technician in the hospital, accountant in the municipality, driver in the school, traffic policeman, guard in the market and kindergarten - is somehow connected to Hamas. They are of course allowed to be liquidated just like the fighters of this organization. For their liquidation, it is allowed to kill thousands of people and consider that collateral damage. The fact is that this war is not fought between two armies but between one formidable army and a force that could at best be described as a barefoot militia. The Israeli authorities call them terrorists, but in Israel that is a fluid term. In the West Bank, it has long been allowed to kill a child with a stone in his hand and claim that he is a terrorist.
Hundreds of thousands of children who have been orphaned and killed, disabled, displaced, starving and sick, and their future descendants, will want to join the resistance movement. We can only stop them if we kill them all. Entire generations will seek revenge, rightly so, with Hamas or some other movement. The new sons of death will not read the Hamas charter and I doubt they will know Islamic law - they will want resistance. And thousands of grieving parents in Gaza will want to join the fight against those who killed their children. We will have to kill them too. In the most moral army in the world, this is called "mowing the grass." And the grass is mowed as long as the occupation lasts.
Is the killing of men and boys in Gaza a lesser crime than the killing of women and children? I doubt it. Women and children symbolize innocence and helplessness, but in Gaza, for the Israeli forces, there are no innocents, and everyone is helpless. There are no uninvolved anymore, because there is no one in Gaza who is not involved. How is it possible not to be involved after 19 months of horror and terror, indiscriminate bombing and criminal shelling? A displaced person who tries to return to the ruins of his home will be considered involved, just as the 1948 refugees who tried to return were considered infiltrators and had to be killed. A mother who tries to defend her children will also be considered involved, a grandmother who tries to save her grandson will also be considered involved. Killing her and everyone around her is the true meaning of the term destruction of Hamas.
