Montenegro today is between the Eagle and the Pig. As Njegoš would best explain. Between the sky and the mud. Between the elevated flight towards Europe and the filth, the den. This is not just a story for the gullible, but an accurate description of the position of a small country that, for the umpteenth time, is trying to deny its right to choose its future.

The lair is not just an image; it is the reality of those networks that want to keep Montenegro in a quagmire, far from the European path. These are structures that feed corruption, that seek servants instead of citizens, obedient instead of free people. These are interest centers that, both outside of Montenegro and within it, are pushing the country towards closure, towards a “stable” in which there is no freedom, no dignity, no perspective.

The eagle, on the other hand, is a symbol of freedom, the European path and values that mean order, the rule of law, a society in which work is rewarded, not obedience. It is no coincidence that today, after years of reforms and a difficult path, Montenegro is the closest to the EU of all the countries of the Western Balkans. This is a fact. Eight chapters have been closed, the negotiation process has advanced the furthest, and Europe is increasingly openly counting on Montenegro as an example to the rest of the region. This is also shown by recent statements by EU officials.

The eagle and the heights of Europe are now more promising than ever. This means a modern state in which the judiciary is not dependent on daily politics, in which investments come for security, not for secret deals, and in which young people do not leave without a care but stay to build their future.

That is why it is necessary for Montenegro to rise up and clearly say NO to filth and its proxies - those who would like to turn the whole house into a pigsty, just so that they themselves can be well-fed, while the people remain trapped in the mud.

It is time to choose. Either we will remain in the den, in the quagmire of interests and humiliation, or we will soar with the Eagle towards Europe, towards freedom, towards the society to which Montenegro belongs.

If he were alive, Njegoš would be looking towards Vienna, Brussels and Berlin.
