It is not the first time that the Progressives and the President of Serbia have been caught in lies, as if guided by Stalin's propaganda motto - the bigger the lie and the more times it is repeated, the easier it will be for the people to swallow it.
The same is true with their story, which has been repeated for years, that the "yellows", i.e. the Democratic Party, destroyed the judiciary and that they installed their own judges and prosecutors, who are now prosecuting these poor and innocent people, who neither ate nor smelled onions in countless illegalities, and are taking revenge on them for losing power.
It turned out that the data that Danas received from the High Judicial Council (HJC) and the High Prosecutorial Council (HPC) showed that in 12 years, Vučić's regime replaced almost all judges and prosecutors in Serbia - 90 percent of judges and 60 percent of prosecutors. No less, no more. The data is inexorable, and they show that a total of 2.688 judges perform judicial functions in the courts of Serbia today, and that from January 1, 2013 to July 3 last year, 2.245 judges took the judicial oath in parliament.
The situation with prosecutors is somewhat less radical. Thus, data from the High Prosecutorial Council show that there are 702 public prosecutors and 65 chief public prosecutors in Serbia, and that from January 1, 2012 to October 2025, 386 prosecutors were elected to that position for the first time, and that another 51 prosecutors are waiting to be sworn in by parliament. So, we are talking about a completely changed composition of the judicial and prosecutorial staff in the judiciary. Have they passed the personnel and party control? Of course they have, because they certainly would not have been elected if they were not suitable.
Are they professional? Well, we testify to that too, only in the opposite direction, i.e. to complete incompetence and an interpretation of the law that goes against the evidence, the law, the facts and common sense, but in favor of party-political orders. Even if the verdict is different, i.e. in accordance with the law and the facts, the president is always there to get his cronies out of criminal prosecution – by pardoning or abolishing. It has long been known that in coalition negotiations, seats in courts and prosecutors' offices are the main party loot, as well as public enterprises.
This was introduced as a practice by Milošević's socialists, and as they gained power, Šešelj's Radicals, Drašković's SPO, and Dušan Mihajlović's New Democracy joined in.
This practice was later continued by Djindjic's and Koštunica's Democrats, and then by Vučić's and Nikolić's Progressives. So this story by Mrdić about the alleged "return of the stolen prosecutor's office to Serbia and its citizens" not only doesn't hold water, but it also abundantly insults the intelligence of anyone who can read, because they will understand what is being attempted.
Because when you have complete control over all five national television channels – RTS, Pink, Happy, Prva, B92, plus all daily newspapers – Večernje Novosti, Politika and all tabloids – Informer, Srpski telegraf, Kurir, Blic and Alo, which have been producing piles of lies on a daily basis for over a decade now, misleading the people of Serbia, it is clear why the Serbian Progressive Party has been winning elections for 12 years.
That is why the awakening of the citizens of Serbia that the students have done over the past year has been so shocking and painful. But like all balloons of lies, this Vučić balloon of lies, illusions and manipulation will burst one day. No amount of legal stunts or media deception will help.
