There have always been crooked politicians - that's the way it is in the end, you can't eliminate them completely, just like in medicine, literature or sports, but it never seemed that such crooks, that is, became a convincing majority among the population of politicians. And not only here.

There are two structural problems of Montenegrin democracy and Montenegrin society.

The first is - a non-existent citizen who is constantly, sometimes even imaginatively, tricked, who is always deceived. And who is put in a situation where he only feels normal when he is part of the pack, when he is involved in some current mobilization, and who in no way has or can have the feeling that he is the one who evaluates and judges the political offer.

The second problem is - endless persuasion of like-minded people. As much as politicians like it, it deprives society of not only dialogic, but also the necessary dialectical impulse, which, one way or another, pushes things forward...

If it were otherwise, a citizen, regarding any issue, not just a collector's, would be able to judge what is the "civilizational minimum" and what is the hysteria of political fraudsters.

The transformation of Botun from an ecological problem to a list of identity-based so-called "suckers" shows all the misery of local pseudopolitics. Whenever you don't know what to do, pull out the flag, the tongue, and the chapel, and you've solved the problem.

Now everyone wants their own "litia", something that mobilizes the flock, that turns people into a column. (Sometimes even Peta.) And with the wind from the boss Vučić You instantly become the “leader of the Serbian people in Montenegro.” The Zeta Fuhrer, so to speak.

Caricatured, you say. Well, the original one was caricatured too. But the consequences weren't like that.

I remember a local politician from the margins who explained, after he acquired a new BMW, that as a representative of his people, he must have a good car, otherwise it would be an attack on his nation and a clear desire to keep his people as far away from political power as possible.

In such situations, I often recall a conversation I had with the landlady in Florence, in 1991. A wonderful and charming woman, an Italian born in Brazil, Mrs. Emilia Bedoni, who, when asked by me - since I was coming from a country with a fresh multi-party system - who she was voting for, answered as follows: At the local level, I vote for the communists - they arrange the most beautiful parks, kindergartens work best, the city functions best when they are in power, and at the national level, I vote for the Christian Democrats, I trust them the most when it comes to running the country... Of course, I was surprised at first, because, although we had just started with a multi-party system, we all already knew very well who we were going to vote for, and at all levels. Her answer helped me understand what it looks like when a citizen really puts himself at the center. Even above his own ideological preferences. Well, that is possible. So, not some "historical ghosts" (as he would say) The tick) but the interest of the citizen - things then fall into place very simply and very rationally. And you don't need any jersey, leave that for other occasions - just decide what game you want to watch or play...

Unfortunately, those who convinced you that they were the one and only defense of Montenegro were equally deceitful. They could not defend it from themselves. And when you cannot defend something from yourself, you cannot defend it from anything else...

Stories about petty street hustlers can be entertaining (and even educational), like the legendary film “Sting,” but cabinet hustlers are a different story. Their deception is twofold: they cheat both people and the system that makes them possible. That’s why they leave behind devastation. Scammers, devastation at work.
