For the artist Luka Joksimović, who says that he lives art, the sculptor Petar Babić said that he is a painter of reaction and an interventionist.

"It's not just a reaction to the void. He reacts to the exhaustiveness of the technique, to the painting of the old masters, to the indifference and arbitrariness of our age," Babić said when opening Joksimović's exhibition in the Nikšić galleries "Nikola I" and "Ilija Šobajić".

The Bjelopolje painter, according to Babić, intervenes on our consciousness, but also in relation to the material, because he does not limit himself to one technique, so it is difficult to determine the medium that best suits Joksimović.

"At the center of Luka's creativity is a portrait, but not a copyist, anatomical, physiognomic one. He knows that making a portrait often turns into a self-portrait and he confronts this directly, looking for a self-portrait in someone else's portrait. On them, the background is often empty and frames a multitude of crayons and strokes. This is how he achieves harmony between the subject and the object and the inner meaning," said Babić.

As he pointed out, Joksimović's portraits are a conversation with oneself, a questioning, an introspection, a search for a sliver of harmony in a crowd of discords. "And we viewers can find answers in them and have a moment for our introversion. Luka sees color very well and consciously uses it, but above all he is a great draftsman. He increasingly rejects illustrativeness and disrespects the haughty pretensions of academicism. It relies on tradition, it uses quite modern means," concluded Babić, convinced that Joksimović's art has its place in the future.

The visitors of the exhibition were greeted by the director of the Museum and Galleries, Jelena Đukanović, and the artist thanked everyone for coming to see his works.

Joksimović, who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, department of painting in the class of Radislav Ratko Vučinić, has so far had six solo exhibitions and a larger number of collective exhibitions. He presented himself to the Nikšić audience, who had the opportunity to see his works for the second time, with over 60 paintings and drawings. He is also engaged in icon painting, illustration, making various unique objects from various materials, wall and floor mosaics in stone and ceramics.
