An exhibition of sculptures by Joveta Ljumović, a famous Montenegrin sculptor, who has been creating in stone for more than two decades, was opened in the House of Culture in Pljevlja.
The exhibition was opened by the director of the "Vitomir Srbljanović" Gallery in Pljevlja, Belis Pojatić, who was also the organizer of the exhibition.
"For the first time in the new space of the House of Culture, we are opening an exhibition of sculptures, not ordinary and usual ones like we had the opportunity to see, but an exhibition of sculptures in stone carved by our guest tonight, Joveta Ljumović," said Pojatić.
He also read part of the criticism of Nataša Nikčević, a well-known art historian.
"His thematic circle consists of animal sculptures of cats, rabbits, bears, dogs, and most often they are figures of birds. Most of his works also have a pedestal as an inseparable part of the sculpture. They have a compact volume, which seems to hide the inner strength. The stone, whatever kind he chose, was perfectly processed. The most explicit example is the egg sculpture, which hides the beginning of the world in a symbolic context. The entire creativity of Joveta Ljumović is dedicated to the artistic interpretation of the animal world", Pojatić quoted part of the criticism about Ljumović's works.
Joveta Ljumović was born in 1967 in Starčevo, Vojvodina.
He graduated from high school, Department of Industrial Design, in Podgorica in 1986, and studied Art Education at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić.
Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture, in the class of professor Pavle Pejović, in 1994.
He has been a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro since 1994, and exhibited at about seventy collective exhibitions and several independent exhibitions.
