At this year's 13th "Herzegovina Comic Festival" (HSF), which will be held from September 6 to 11, 50 comic authors and theorists of the ninth art will present themselves at ten locations in the city, and five concerts will be organized.
The official opening of the festival is scheduled for September 6 at Belavista square, after which visitors in the galleries "Sue Ryder" and "Josip Bepo Benković" will be able to see an exhibition of the works of 12 special guests of this year's edition of HSF.
The opening program also includes a concert by the Italian punk-rock band "Rodeo Clown", with whom the top comic artist, an old friend of the Herzegovinian comic festival, Antonio Lucci, plays. The musicians from Sardinia will be supported by young rockers from Herzegovina - the band "Kupllung", as well as the combined rock band "Gotam Vilans". "The extremely rich program starts this year earlier than previous times, because already on Friday, September 6 in the morning, in cooperation with the Elementary School 'Dašo Pavičić', a lecture and workshop with students will be held by Lazo Sredanović, the creator and author of the legendary comic strip 'Dikan', which celebrates 50 years since the publication of the first issue. The pedagogues Iztok Sitar from Slovenia and Vladimir Vesović from Serbia will talk to the students about the most famous Balkan comics, and our famous comics theorist Luka Rakojević will talk about Laz Sredanović and other famous Montenegrin comic creators," the organizers announced.
They point out that "the list of special guests, headed by the Argentinian, the legend of comics creation Enrique Brecia, also includes the British trio of great artists Rufus Daiglo, Boo Cook and Simon Davis, the Italians Vanessa Belardo, Pasquale del Vecchio, Andrea di Vito and Mario Alberti, and the Spanish Raul Alen and Javier Fernandes and two exceptional artists from the former Yugoslavia - Leonid Pilipović alias Punkerstein from Serbia and Stjepan Štef Bartolić from Croatia".
"For six days, Herceg Novi will be completely transformed into a scenography of the best product of the ninth art, and when the whole city breathes the rhythm of HSF, an army of more than 50 comic creators, among whom are now practically already resident artists - William Simpson from Great Britain, Moreno Buratini, Walter Venturi, Walter Trono and Antonio Luči from Italy, Mirko Čolak, Aleksa Gajić, Stevan Subić, Dragana Kuprešanin and Zoran Stefanović from Serbia, Tihomir Tikulin and Milko Peko from Croatia and Filip Andronik from Bosnia and Herzegovina - they will draw on squares, beaches , cafes, restaurants, hang out on terraces, streets and clubs and hold workshops and lectures in schools and galleries", explained the organizers.
"And it's all free of charge and to the great satisfaction of citizens and guests, as well as the artists themselves, who all underline that the Herzegovina comic festival is their favorite event dedicated to the ninth art on a global scale," the HSF pointed out. This year's edition of the "Herzegovina Comic Festival" will mark some of the crucial historical moments of comic art, such as 90 years since the release of "Tin Tin", 80 years of "Batman", 60 years of "Asterix", 50 years of "Alan Ford" and 50 years of the most famous Balkan comic "Dikan".
The thirteenth edition of the HSF ends at the "Peoples" beach bar with a concert by the Serbian rock group "Viva Vops".
